Wedding website necessary?

Alicia B, on January 30, 2015 at 7:13 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 26

Is a wedding website necessary? I wasn't planning on making one, but notice a lot of you ladies have one. Anyone else not providing your guests with one? If you do have one, what was the main reason you made it?

I made one so I could provide the OOT guests with information about the hotels & registries. I also posted some of our epics b/c not all my family have met my FH & vice versa. I've found out you can also get ppl to RSVP.

I have one. The main reason I did it was because that is how my guests will RSVP. And I am getting married in tahoe so people need to book lodging soon and shouldn't wait until the invites go out. However, since sending out the STD, there have only been 4 views. I sent out 35 STDs.

I think it's a good way to have information available that might not necessarily fit on your invites, like registries, hotel blocks, etc. Though web design is part of my job so I just made one out of habit, lol.

I have one but have no idea how useful it will be. I guess I will see the closer I get to my wedding date.

    Not necessary.

I did one because that's how we are doing RSVP's. Otherwise, I probably would not have done one.

I did one, seemed like fun and a good way to ensure your guests have all the important information.

I have a lot of out of town guests. It didn't take me that long to create. But it has been helpful to be able to send guests to the website for information on the hotel and travel. We have had 51 views since the save the dates went out a month and a half ago, we sent 36 stds. It depends on your crowd. Not at all necessary, but if your crowd will use it it could be helpful.

I made one to save on stationary costs, and because most of my guest list is tech savvy (my grandparents are the only ones without facebook on the whole 100 person list). I didnt want to have to have invites with accomodation, rsvps and envelopes, etc, plus postage.

I also have a lot of tech savvy people and thought it would be nice to have the pertinent info in one place. I didn't originally plan to do one, though - it only happened because I had time to make it.

I barely know my FH's extended family, we don't live close to them. So I made one to reach out to them a little bit & because most of the guests will have to travel I wanted to get people that information ASAP.

Not making one, I am old fashion, doing everything on paper.

    I made one because:

    - 80% of our guests are OOT

    - people forget their invitations, but everyone has a smart phone to google our names, which leads to the website, which has all the addresses and times Smiley smile

    - it's the perfect place to put additional info that you can't fit/shouldn't put on invitations

    - I like looking at other people's wedding sites when I'm invited to their wedding!

I enjoyed making mine. Most of our guests will use it to RSVP, and it was the only way I felt comfortable providing registry info.

I wanted to have a place where all of the guests could see our engagement photos and RSVP, but so far I have only had 2 couples actually RSVP. So it is probably not necessary to make one unless you have a lot of technology friendly guests... Smiley smile

It's not necessary but I did one because I want people to be able to RSVP online, and because I have a lot of OOT guests and it was just an easier way to let them have all the information.

Ours has been very useful! We are doing things a little alternatively, as a result the website has been priceless in getting everyone the correct info! Everyone loves that they can just log on to get info & RSVP.

Plus it's free, unless you upgrade, which is much cheaper than including all kinds of info/direction/rspv cards etc in your invites. & Yes, even my Grandma is online lol.

I made one through WW and so far it's been extremely successful and helpful to our guests. I knew we would get people going on it but it's surprised me how much it has helped. My grandma even went on it lol. We did one to provide a lot of the information that wouldn't fit on the invitations. Accommodations/travel, directions, addt'l ceremony/reception info, directions, local attractions etc. I spent some time on it and wanted to have a place for guests to see our engagement and future wedding photos too!

I think they are mostly helpful for OOT guests or if you have specific info people need....they know where to go back and get info vrs calling you or calling your parents.

IF your having a small local wedding...you could do one but I don't think you need one..if your doing a big wedding or a dw or have a family or friends coming from out of town a website can be nice.
