I am really struggling on how to write "Our Story" on our website. Perhaps some of you could give me some insight on how to word everything? Our story is kinda weird because we officially met 3 years prior to the first time we hung out.. It’s kinda strange because my best friend in college was crushing really hard on my FH who happened to be her lab partner. So of course as her best friend I heard all about FH. As her lab partner FH heard all about me. Btw FH was never into her he only saw her as a friend. We met briefly one day but it was just a quick hi and that was it. Well about 3 years later (best friend got over her crush and had a boyfriend by this point) she threw me a surprise birthday party. Since it was in the same town that FH lived she invited him out even though I really didn’t KNOW him I just knew a lot about him and vice versa. Well of course we hit it off right away and went on our first date the next day. How the heck to I word all of this lol?

I was worried about ours too, because FH was a bit of a jerk and we had a timeout LOL We kind of glossed over everything because everyone at the wedding knows our story. I said something like "after a couple of false starts they realized they couldn't live without each other" blah blah

Mine has an FAQ that I largely lifted from @mrjonesandme. I recommend it, she did a great job (Chrises.us)

Hi Katie. Maybe something along these lines:

We've learned that fate has a funny way of bringing you right where you belong. Through a mutual friend we met several years ago, and had a very lovely two minutes. Neither of us had any idea how big of a day that was because it was three years before we would cross paths again! Thanks to the same mutual friend "John" came to a surprise birthday party for Katie, and magic started to fly. It wasn't long afterward that we were falling helplessly in love .....

It may be helpful to break it up: how you met, your engagement & wedding. We did this in the form of 3 titles: the day our eyes met, our hearts committed & our lives begin

We met online and I was having a lot of trouble wording everything for the website-we skipped some of the details and focused on our first date from both perspectives:

    Laura's side:

I knew Tyler was going to be different when, on our first date, I ate and he didn't. We were meeting for the first time for drinks and I had just gotten out of class. I knew it wouldn't be a good idea for me to drink on an empty stomach but Tyler had already eaten dinner. I had a decision to make and I went for it. The icing on the cake was that he paid for my dinner anyway. Since that day, February 19th, 2013 (yes I remember the date), it would be less than two weeks until we officially became a couple. I knew from the very beginning that he was someone I wanted to have in my life. Since then, Tyler has become my very best friend and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him.

    Tyler's side:

I remember when Laura got out of her car, I said to myself, "Please let that be her." She looked beautiful from the day I met her. It was nice that she ate on our first date, even though I did not, because it showed that she was comfortable with me from the start. I knew that I had something special because before I left, she was asking me for another date, and we have been together ever since.

I hid that page. I'm not much of a storyteller and neither is FH. Oh well. People can ask us in person if they are curious.

I found this so hard too! We did our relationship story as told by me, and our engagement story as told by him. For our relationship story, I kept it simple. I told how we met, who said I love you first, who asked who to move in, and then a handful of details about our life together leading up to the engagement.

Maybe just start off at the part that you met him at the party. and keep it short. No one wants to read a super long story.

Also, those sections aren't mandatory. We didn't include any of those sections on our page. Took too much time and energy compared to the the amount of people that would actually read. We just kept to the info it would be helpful to know to plan for our wedding: time, date, location, room block, closest airport, local attractions, registry.

I'm using your format as a template for mine, so cute while also keeping the nosy busy bodies at bay. hope you don't mind
