Wedding Website Privacy

love_andmarriage, on December 29, 2017 at 9:22 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16

Which websites are best (WeddingWire, SquareSpace, Minted, etc) for creating a wedding website that will not show up in Google Search Results?

I want to ensure privacy of my fiance and I because there are unwanted people/estranged family members that we don't want to have access to the location/date/registry of our wedding because we do not want them to show up.

We're using the knot. Our website is password protected and I'm pretty sure I was able to hide our page from a Google search

We're using Zola and it's password protected. Even if people figure out the url the only thing it shows are our names unless they have the password.

Do you find that people are having issues with the password protection? Have you gotten any complaints?

We haven't given out the link since we aren't sending STDs for at least another 2 months

I recently switched from the knot to minted. The Knot website can be password protected but your registry won’t be. If someone looks you up on the Knot, they can view your registry even if your website is protected. I didn’t want that. Also, I like the quality of minted better.

I'm using the knot and there are settings to hide your website until it's done. Also, you can manually input everyone invited and only those people are able to rsvp

Oh awesome. On Minted, would your registry also be password protected on the site?

Yes, your registry is linked in the website so people can't view it if the website is password protected compared to the knot where the website and registry are accessed separately. However I'm sure if someone goes directly to the vendor site, they could find your registry if they were specifically looking for it.

I’m using withjoy.com. You can set a password so it’s all hidden and send guests the password in the invite.

I'm using wedding wire. Mine is password protected, and as far as I'm aware, is not searchable on google.

I also had a lot of privacy concerns since I work in a dangerous field and didn't want any of this info to be public.

Yes, you definitely have the option of keeping your website out of google filters. I have the Knot and I love the options you have as well, like passwords to get access to your website, and guest only RSVP as well.

Fabulous-thank you. Did you set your registry to be private as well?

Seconding withjoy.com. You can also decide which pages/info you want to be password protected and what you want to be public (like the love story).

I haven't posted a registry yet. I did specifically put it under FH's name and not my own though. I'll be playing with that ore next month
