Dedicated June 2022

Wedding website

on November 12, 2020 at 10:40 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 24
Hi guys, I know I’ve been asking a lot of questions (sorry about that) but I was wondering if I should put the address of wedding website on the save the date or the invitation since they have to rsvp online. I was just going to have the save the date say formal invitation to follow and then put the address of the website on the invitation, but I’m not sure what the correct etiquette is.

You could definitely put your website address on your Save The Dates! People typically don't RSVP until they receive the formal invitation, but it doesn't hurt to give them the website so they can see all other info you have on there. Also include the website again on the invitations, and specify on the invitations (not the Save The Dates) that they will need to RSVP online. So I would suggest putting the website address on both the Save The Dates and the invitation.

I agree with Lisa! Definitely put the website on your STDs! Guests like to look at your website and will look through your photos, information, registries, before a formal invite goes out! Include the websites again on the invitation specifying the RSVP deadline!

This is so helpful! My brother just got married and my SIL only put the website on the invitation, which only gave people a couple weeks to RSVP and get them a gift. The whole process was really rushed. So I was just wondering what I could do to limit that unwanted stress for the guests. Thanks again 🥰

I would definitely put it on your save the dates so they have as much info about the wedding in advance as possible. You can later include it on your invitations as well.

It goes on save the dates only. Unless you are using the website to collect replies and the site would be listed on the reply card only in that situation.

You guys are definitely right! I think it’s better to give them all the information sooner rather than later, that way they can familiarize themselves with the website and and hopefully we are not bombarded with questions when some people can’t figure it out.

I would put it on both and not open up RSVPs until invitations go out.

Being one of the last couples in our circle to get married, we are putting it on both.
Definitely on the STDs, more information early is very helpful, especially if your STDs don’t have a location (or at least city) on them. As to the invitations, technically it may not be proper etiquette, but why make it harder on people? Realistically, they won’t dig up the STD if they forgot to write it down, they will just text/call you asking questions, which is a lose-lose scenario.

I think it should go on your std’s, so your future guests can have the wedding website to browse until you’re ready to send invitations.

Thanks! Of course I care about proper etiquette but honestly I just want to make it easier for everyone especially grandparents and people who are less “ tech savvy” I think I’m just going to put it on both and call it a day. Haha

I’m putting the website information on the Save the Dates but not giving access to the RSVP feature until closer to the time. I’m worried people will say they can come several months out and then change their minds. They’ll be able to RSVP once we’re ready to send invitations about two months before the RSVP date.

Online RSVP is definitely not a black tie wedding element.

Avoid putting it on your invites especially if it’s a black tie event. Unless you want them to RSVP via online. If that’s the case, just put the website on the RSVP card.

For less tech savvy guests, I would just have your guys’ parents help spread the word and help them out. That’s what we did! My mom and MIL were the ones who reminded older family members and their friends of the website and navigate through it. If people had trouble RSVPing online, they would rsvp for them. Smiley smile

We sent our save the dates out a year in advance because we are having a destination wedding. We did put the website on the save the dates and then had a lot of information already on the website, but not the rsvp page. We wanted to go ahead and put accommodation recommendations, let them know of the other events happening over the weekend, etc.
