What kind of updates do they need? Typically all of the information needed for booking is provided at once, not continuously throughout wedding planning. If there's something important that comes up, I would reach out to guests directly or, like you mentioned, send an email. Guests shouldn't be responsible for checking your website regularly to figure out how to attend your wedding.

I would like them to check at a later date to inform them of the plans while on the cruise. Reception, excursions, and other fun things offered.

I would send a big group email letting everyone know to check the website each time you make a big update! It is a little more work, but at least then if they don't look, you did everything you could do to direct them!
