Wedding week meals

Hannah, on November 14, 2020 at 11:11 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 1 14
I’ve lost 80 pounds since 2016. It’s been a journey to become a healthier me. My wedding is one week away. My dress fits perfectly and because she’s helpful my mom told me not to gain weight this week (move that to overbearing mother of the bride forum). So I have a pretty healthy diet and I am in no way interested in starving myself this week. Did you have a meal plan that you loved for wedding week? Do you have foods you don’t recommend? Obviously staying hydrated and avoiding greasy fast food all week but I’m planning to mostly do protein shakes and veggie wraps or chicken or fish with rice and salad. Appreciate any advice - Happy Wedding ladies!!!

I just didn't change my diet for the week before. It also isn't good to lose much more weight because your dress may not fit right either. I would keep things the same as you have been to maintain the weight that you're at now.

I just ate normally. If your dress fits, then unless you go nuts with the bad for you foods, it should be fine on your wedding day. Eat normally, stay hydrated, keep up as much as possible with your exercise routine. (Don't know if that's the kind of advice you were looking for, but that's what I did.)

As a side note - don't listen to your mom - while I'm sure it came with good intentions, that wasn't very nice of her to say.

I would just keep doing what you’re doing; you won’t have much of a change in a week. The worst thing you can do is starve and pass out on your big day.

I would keep eating as you normally do. You definitely don’t want to do any drastic changes to your diet, especially since your body is used to it. Go rock that wedding dress! Congrats on your weight loss journey!

The only thing I would stay away from is really salty food to help combat any water retention. Otherwise, you’ll be absolutely fine. My body composition changed between when I bought my dress and wore it for my wedding and I still had no issues with it fitting perfectly. Unless you’re binging on 3000+ calories a day, every day until your wedding (and even that probably won’t do more than add 5 pounds or so if it’s only one week), your normal diet will be fine.

I think status quo is super important wedding week. Eat how you would normally eat, as you were doing for the final dress fitting, and bc so much else in your body can fluctuate with diet changes. You need sleep, you need energy, and if you’re anything like me you’ll be burning calories with nerves anyway 🤣

This is true! A friend of mine lost a little too much weight after her last fitting and had a strapless dress. It *looked* fine but in half her pictures she has a hand on the top trying to hold it up.

First of all Congratulations on your weight loss. Do what you’ve been doing and you should be fine. Lots of water, low salt and plenty of rest this week.

Congrats!! I personally avoid sodas and sugary drinks because that makes me feel extremely bloated. Congrats and enjoy your wedding day!
