Wedding Weekend activities

So our wedding is coming up very soon; August 25, 2019. I have to work till 5pm the Thursday and Friday before my wedding(or I could call off that Friday and take a hit on attendance). I have been thinking that Friday night, we would have our family and friends go out for cocktails at our favorite bar that has outdoor sitting with a view of the waterway. Saturday morning we are doing a breakfast at IHop where we had our first date and then that evening we are having a bowling night. We are paying for everything for the wedding. The brunch is pay your own way. The bowling night I am looking for group event. Do these sound like good ideas? Also should we do welcome bags?

Are you expecting everyone to attend cocktails, breakfast, bowling, and the wedding? If so, I think that's a little much to ask of your friends and family. They committed to spending Sunday celebrating you, not Friday and Saturday as well. I would do one or two optional pre-wedding events, but definitely not all three within a 2 day period. I would also make it clear that these are not hosted events and wouldn't send formal invitations for them. As far as welcome bags, will you have lots of out of town guests? If you will and it's within your budget, I think they're a great touch.

No we are not expecting all of them. The breakfast is optional but for our out town guest who are from Ohio on his side never been to SC, and some guests on my side are from FL.. so we want them to have a good time.

If you can afford welcome bags, I'd do them. It's a great way to let guests know what is happening over the weekend & what they can attend if they want to!

Hey Marian! I think welcome bags would be a great idea, especially since you mentioned that you have a number of out of town guests! Have you thought about what you would like to include in them?

Hello. I have not decided. Some are from Ohio and a few from Florida. I have decided one activity the day before the wedding would be a Cornhole tournament
