Keto is a diet that is very high in fat and very low in carbs. I'm eating Keto and the ratio I am reaching for is 70% fat, 20% protein, and 10% carbs. By eating this way you can force your body to switch from using sugar (carbs) for energy to using fat. Word of caution: properly doing Keto can require a LOT of focus and energy, especially in the beginning. I did a lot of tracking my Macros very specifically to make sure I was hiting my ratios. I've been doing it for about 4 weeks now and have relaxed a little becuase I pretty much eat the same thing every day. This was really helpful for me in the beginning https://www.ruled.me/guide-keto-diet/

People have experienced rapid weight loss during the first few weeks of Keto which is mostly due to losing a lot of water weight very quickly. If you have a lot of weight to lose then I would say that 30 lbs may be possible on Keto, but losing weight that quickly is not really considered healthy.

A lot of people don't like keto, but I love it! I made the lifestyle change about 2 months ago. And even more than weight loss I feel so much better. I'm not tired all the time, I'm not grumpy all the time, I'm not hungry all the time. I think keto is truly amazing. There is a lot of misinformation about keto out there, make sure to do your research. I just read Keto Clarity, it takes all the scientific mumbo jumbo that most people can't understand and breaks it down for normal people.

Keto is- 1) High fat 2) Moderate Protein 3) Low to no carb

Our bodies do not need carbs to perform. Our bodies do naturally what carbs can do without the negative effects carbs have on the body. I now eat two meals a day, because I'm not hungry enough to eat three meals a day. I eat between the hours of 11-7 as I'm hungry. I load up on fat during those meals and I'm full for much longer than I was on the SAD (Standard American Diet- who tf wants to follow a diet called SAD lol) . I was watching the scale climb up and up until I reached a size 18 eating right and working out. That's when I decided to try keto, for the first time in about 3 years I'm actually losing weight. You could quite possibly lose 30 lbs with keto.

I'm pretty sure I used this one https://www.ruled.me/keto-calculator/

but the standard ratio for Keto is about the same. Most places recommend that you stay under 20g net carbs a day.

I used an app called "Stupid Simple Keto" when I first started. FH and I meal plan so we eat a lot of the same things regularly so I don't calculate as much anymore. I also go by how hungry I feel. Yesterday I didn't get enough fat because I'm starving right now. Usually I don't break my fast until between 11:00-12:00 depending on when I start to feel hungry.

I LOVE keto - but I'm having such a hard time getting back into it! You HAVE to stay consistent with it, and don't get discouraged with the fluctuations in the scale - inches are what matters here because you will retain and then lose a lot of water weight periodically.
My macros were as such on a 5% carbs/ 25% protein/ 70% fat - I am on the higher end of the protein because I work out almost daily.
    Roughly 1300 calories
    20g Carbs
    80g Protein
    100g fat

-I'd recommend that you don't focus on the scale as much and focus on how your clothes fit you. You can become a prisoner to the numbers and lose sight of your progress.

-Do tons of research and follow keto YouTubers. Be prepared to meal prep (seriously, plan meals/snacks ahead) and spend a bit more money. Almond flour and erythritol are expensive. However, Trader Joes has cauliflower fried rice and cauliflower pizza crust which are good in a pinch and relatively cheap. I still recommend making your own stuff.

-Get a nutrition tracking app and focus on macros, portion control, and exercise. Calories don't matter quite as much on keto as other diets, but they do still count. Meaning, if you're over on calories for the day, but still hungry, having a "fat bomb" or decaf bulletproof coffee won't be that detrimental.

-You also can't cheat on keto like you can with another diet. You'll gain water weight and have to start ketosis over again. It's not a tragedy, but you definitely need to avoid doing that frequently. If you're going on vacation for a week or more, I think it's worth loosening your carb limit, but don't go overboard. After your vacation, go back to keto eating.

-Stay strong willed. I literally had a dream I ate bread the first week in which was bizarre, disheartening, and hilarious.

-After your 3 months/dress fitting/wedding, don't go back to eating heavy carbs or not tracking. I stopped "keto" and am still eating cauliflower rice and avoiding pasta and white bread, just with way less fat. Try to make lower carb a lifestyle instead of a diet.

Keto can be difficult to stick to, but it's worth it. My favorite keto website is ketodietapp.com. start here: https://ketodietapp.com/Blog/page/Start-Here. Tons of great information here, including a macro calculator!

I just started a keto diet today! If you are diligent with counting your macros, and you do at least some light working out, you should be able to lose 20–25lbs in 3 months. The info I’ve seen generally says don’t go over 2lbs lost in a week. Drink lots of water and try to add electrolytes if you can to keep your body from getting dehydrated.
