Wedding Wire Budget Tool not working

Ashley, on January 29, 2021 at 7:37 AM Posted in Account Support 0 6
I have my budget set as 15k and now that I’m inputting the actual prices down (not estimate), some of the estimates decrease as expected but when totaled, everything (estimated and actual) comes out to be more than 20k!? I feel like I cannot trust the tool anymore!? Is there a way to fix this so that the calculator stays at 15k?? I only have actual prices that add up to 10ish k.

I don't know much about Wedding Wire's budget tool, since I personally haven't used it, but I have used the budget tool on The Knot, and it was helpful! Maybe try that one?

Which app have you found to prefer? I’ve been thinking of switching overall to the knot but already have my website setup here

I don't really have any experience with Wedding Wire's website or tools or anything (I only use the forums and read some of their articles and have searched for vendors), so I can't speak from personal experience, but I have seen many posts on these forums about problems with Wedding Wire's website tool and other general issues. I personally haven't had issues with The Knot - guests were able to RSVP (and change their RSVP if needed), the website was easy to setup, the budgeting and vendor tools were easy to use, etc. I definitely would recommend The Knot. You could setup an account on The Knot and see what you think about their tools, and then decide which one you like better.

I used both WW and The Knot during planning and I found The Knot to be better. I never had an issue with anything, including the budget tool.

I use the WW tool for our budget and have never experience any issues; everything ties out exactly to what I also maintain in my excel spreadsheet. What you are describing is an incredibly big difference - I would drill into each category on the left and try to pinpoint which one is driving the problem - maybe there is an extra number or extra zero in one of your entries somewhere?

    Hello Ashley,

I would advise trying to remove all of the estimated cost from the categories. The budget tool prioritizes the final cost options so this will be more accurate when you are trying to keep track of your budgeting. I apologize for the inconvenience and if you have any other questions or issues with the budgeter please reach out to us at help@weddingwire.com.
