Wedding with a talent show?

Mphgirl23, on July 23, 2015 at 1:04 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 74

Why?

Just.. why.

I am being forced to go to a wedding next month and we were told to RSVP by the end of the week if we want to participate in the "talent show". I will also add that they just posted on their wedding website that it will be a DRY wedding. How am I suppose to sit through this whole thing and NOT be intoxicated?

I don't have any talent until I have a glass of wine.

Just kidding. But I really think a wedding is not the place for a talent show. Is she trying to replace DJ/dancing with a free form of entertainment?

Wut? I'm usually an advocate of "do whatever you want at your wedding" but talent show?? No.

Either "regretfully decline" or bring a flask. There's really no other option here...

Hahah I am literally dying reading these comments.. I have suggested the regretful decline but FH says we HAVE to go. And hopefully we can sneak a flask... it is being held at a bible camp and there is no alcohol or cellphones allowed on the grounds...

Also.. on their wedding website they made suggestions for the talent show, such as "doing a funny impersonation of them," singing "my heart will go on," etc... I just.can't.take.it.

Omg. I can't even imagine sober people getting up to sing "My Heart Will go On" and other sober people watching.

No cell phones allowed on the grounds?

You will have to bring a camera since you cant take pics with your phone. thats lame...

ETA Jameson hides really well in ginger ale (not a fan of coke). I do it at small concerts all the time. That way you can dump it in under the table and not have to worry about someone seeing the flask.
