Why? Just.. why. I am being forced to go to a wedding next month and we were told to RSVP by the end of the week if we want to participate in the "talent show". Talent Show? I'm on team Weddings aren't a birthday party, but who has a talent show at their birthday party anyway? They're probably saying no phones so people can't take pictures and videos of the ridiculousness.

I wouldn't even consider the no cell phone rule for a second. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Excuse me, this isn't junior high. My phone will stay right where I want it, thank you very much, and I'm the one who makes the call on whether or not I want to toss it away for a little while and be phone-free for a bit.

Which, oops, sorry, is not the case for this! Phone's staying with me. Too bad.

So I found out the auditions are being held in person, through Skype, or by video submission. I will try to hack their website and get access to all of the videos, but no promises. I promise not to let you all down though--Knowing that I get to come back and show you all my pictures/videos that I had to sneak... well it will help me to survive this thing.

So I know this might make me a WW pariah, but I'm sayin' it. I completely get pointing out when couples are tacky, entitled, or selfish. But why get down on the talent show or a dry wedding? Or a combination thereof? I think the best weddings are the ones that feel personal, and if they're a Bible thumping, tee totaling, talent show loving couple, more power to them for making their wedding reflect that. Your wedding will be your ideal wedding. My wedding will be my ideal (boozy and talentless) wedding. Celebrate your love the best way you know how, and don't get down on others for doing the same.

How old is the couple getting married? What are you wearing? What time of day is this fiasco happening? This is fascinating. And, it asks more questions than it answers, really.

Adjo - I think that's fair, but it's also a general rule to not make guests be a captive audience for an extended length of time. Although they are TELLING people it's a talent show, and people can always decline the invite. Except for OP, who sounds like she doesn't have a choice :/

@Stephanie The couple is 28 & 29. I have NO idea what to wear because it is going to be at a remote location in the woods at a bible camp--do I wear a dress with combat boots? Or maybe flip flops? They are making this into a three-day event. We are only going to the day that their ceremony/reception takes place. They are having the ceremony in the morning (around 11AM I think?), then the "Mexican picnic" (their reception) starts a couple of hours later, with the talent show to take place simultaneously.

And I get it @Adjo.. everyone expresses their love in different ways.. I just wish I didn't have to be there for it. It sounds like a children's party more than a celebration of marriage.

LMAO at these posts & picts!!! Tell me they are kidding, or using it as a strategic way to drive away guests to cut the list in half! If they are serious my rsvp would read "No: we are not friends anymore" j/k!

I can understand no alcohol at a Bible camp but I will bet the farm that the no cellphone thing is from the couple.

No alcohol? Auditions? No cell phones? And they're having a 3 day event?! I can't.

I was a BM for my college roommate and her MIL told us bridesmaids to make up a skit/dance to do at the rehearsal dinner....for real. like props the whole nine. But for some reason the groomsmen didn't have to do anything, nothing.

Hahaha I want to go just to see this "Wedding Talent Show" flop. Unless they are expecting a lot of children I can't see many adults participating without some liquid courage. Please send pictures.

It just gets better and better (worse and worse)! They want you to go to their ceremony in the morning, hang around all day and do what, and then the food isn't till later? AND NO DRINKING?!

I think this is my favorite thread since I joined WW. The memes are amazing! You MUST sneak in some alcohol and post some pics/ video for us.
