Wedding without a day-of coordinator

Anna Rica, on September 12, 2013 at 7:01 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 8

Hi I am new to this wedding and even creating a discussion board. My wedding is basically DIY. But I still don't know how the wedding itself would flow without a wedding coordinator. Who would tell vendors where to go, who will do the set up and breakdown, who will make sure everything is picked up at the end, basically who will make sure everything is flowing right? Also I'm thinking of doing food trucks for my main catering with 150 guest, who will make sure that it stays organized n is done in a timely manner? Thanks all suggestions welcome Smiley smile

I would never recommend not hiring a DOC with a wedding that size. It is going to relieve so much of your stress...totally worth the money

Oh and welcome to WW! I hope you stick around and will think about changing your avatar!

(**Please note you can only do this through a computer, not a tablet or smartphone!** -- Thanks Mrs.S) Avatars are often how fellow community members can identify you! We certainly understand privacy concerns, so the picture doesn't have to be of you-- just something unique to you, your wedding, or something that you love! This will make it easier for us to remember who you are and follow your progression of posts.

    To do this:

    - Click 'Settings' at the top right-hand side of your screen

    - Click 'Profile and Privacy Settings'

    - Below 'Account Image' on the left, hover your mouse over the avatar and click 'Change Image'

    - Select an image from your Photo Album, your Avatars, or Upload from your computer & click 'Update Image'

I'm a DIY bride and we don't have a DOC. I'm probably going to have a family friend do it.

You have a big wedding with a lot of moving parts. Hire a DOC. It'll be the best money you spend.

We are at around 165.Every dj we interviewed basically said that they step up and make sure everything runs smoothly, i figure between the DJ and my mom they can make sure everything is going well, but then again i am very laid back and dont have a clear vision for the day, as long as people are drinking and having fun i wont be upset by much. . We have our venue for 48 hours, 24 before and 24 after. So we will set up friday and tear down Sunday.

Actually we have two Djs- one to run the equipment and one to run/emcee the event. The extra person is actually why we hired him over what was our number one pick. I may look into it, but I am 90% leaning on no DOC.

We didn't really need one because our wedding will be so small, but planning from out of state was almost impossible. So, we hired a coordinator who was able to assist uring certain parts of the process. If that is out of the picture for you, then I would make sure the vendors you go with are very experienced and professional. Or maybe your venue will have someone they appoint to look over weddings on the day of. It wouldn't be a bad idea to split up the to-do list for that day and assign certain tasks to certain people and have your MOH okay it before you see it!
