Wedding Without Moms

Staci, on February 26, 2022 at 8:39 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 2
Hello,
My fiancé and I have both unfortunately lost our moms. As you can imagine, it is very hard to plan a wedding without them. We would like to honor them during our wedding ceremony, but weren’t quite sure how. We won’t have programs, so we were thinking of maybe still making the unity candle ceremony about them. Has anyone seen this done that has any tips? We are of course reserving a seat and putting up their photo, but we would really like to take time to acknowledge them during the ceremony. Thanks in advance!

That is very sweet. I had a charm made for my bridal bouquet that has my grandparents' photos on it. The Etsy shop I purchased it from also makes pendants that pin, like on a lapel. The groom could wear a picture of his mother with his boutonniere. Here's the link to the shop.

I think your candle idea is spot on. You could have the officiant say something like “before we begin, the bride and groom would like to show love for those who could not be here; their mothers.”
