Wedding Wording

Kalysta, on October 6, 2021 at 7:08 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3
Fiancé and I are having a dry wedding with no registry.
The reason for the dry wedding is due to trauma for myself and my fiancé stemming from alcohol abuse, as well as not waving a prior substance that was abused in the face of parts of my family that are now sober.
We also don’t want a registry as we have no space for things right now, and would prefer we just have money or gift cards.Any idea how to word this on invites?

Invitations aren't the place for this info. An invitation is meant only to invite people and tell them when and where. I've found some articles saying that either on your website or word of mouth is best.

You don't need to write those things anywhere. If you dont' have a registry, everyone will give you card and money. (Maybe a few gits will trickle in, but they'd do that anyway no matter what you write). No one needs to know it's a dry wedding, so I wouldn't worry about either issue.

Hi Kalysta! You don't have to include either of these things on your wedding invitations!!

Not having an established registry is enough of a hint that you'd prefer cash instead, but you can also register for gift cards at a few retailers if you'd like!

I would let your immediate family & closest friends know this information though, so they can help field questions and spread the news by word of mouth!
