Weddingwire vs. Weddingbee

Sloane, on February 5, 2022 at 10:41 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7
I am curious which board you find most helpful and inspirational in your planning? I was a long time fan of Weddingbee, however I don’t seem to find it as helpful as WW. Would love to know your thoughts.

I started off there before I was engaged. However, I find this community to be a lot more helpful, active, and supportive. The most active threads on WeddingBee are mostly not about weddings -- more about parenting and other lifestyle topics. They can also be overly critical of posters; for example, whenever someone asks for relationship advice, the most common answer is to dump the boyfriend no matter what. I have also seen them attack posters for replying to questions or not including every little detail ("you didn't tell us about that in your first post, you're changing the story"). So it can be entertaining for the occasional troll or train wreck thread, but not so much if you have actual questions about wedding planning IMO.

I totally agree! This community was much more helpful for actual planning. Sadly nowadays the number of wedding related posts on WB is very small compared to non-wedding posts (parenting/pregnancy, “why won’t he propose”, family drama, etc.).

I’ve browsed WeddingBee but I couldn’t find any discussions relevant to wedding planning at all. They focus on being judgmental of ring sizes. If there is a rare wedding related topic, there is no room for constructive criticism or difference of opinion that doesn’t match theirs.

WW has its flaws but overall is very respectful of everyone who posts and has relevant information to share, including being helpful with alternative ideas that you won’t find in a wedding magazine or article.

Everything all of you have posted is exactly who I defected from there. There is less about weddings and more content regarding dysfunctional relationships. I find the community highly critical of diverse opinions. So glad to be here with you ladies.

Oh goodness the same thing happened to me and o told that woman that I didn’t know she was the Emily post of Weddingbee and if that’s what she is she needs to write a Weddingbee etiquette book so that when newbies like me who are excited to respond to anything wedding we don’t get eviscerated for joy knowing the rules.

I agree with everyone else - WeddingBee is pretty toxic and I try to avoid it.
