Weddingwire Website Does Not Show?

Maggie, on March 6, 2019 at 3:47 PM Posted in Account Support 0 6

I am having two issues with my WeddingWire website.

1. The Welcome page is not visible unless if you click the link on the side bar. It used to not be that way and I don't see any option in the settings to set the top page.

2. Also, some of my guests are having trouble even accessing the website (i.e. using Android mobile or clicking a link from Facebook messenger and saying it either timed out loading or the FB tracking link in FB messenger is messing up the URL saying the page does not exist). I've checked with my devices and desktop computer and everything seems to be fine.

If anyone could provide any help, thanks!

Hi Maggie! The welcome page not initially showing is an issue that our Development Team is aware of and working to fix as we speak! If you want to avoid this issue completely while they're fixing it, I recommend that you make your website into the 'Stacked' layout instead of 'Paged'.

As far as the issue that you are having with the Facebook sharing function, Facebook has recently updated their sharing settings and we are unable to change then on the WeddingWire side of things. These changed settings are not rendering some wedding websites correctly when shared. I recommend that you instead just provide your guests with your URL instead of sharing via Facebook!

Thank you for your response! I will look into the "stacked" layout instead of "paged." I would prefer "paged" because we have our pages in a bilingual format.

Unfortunately, I am not utilizing a Facebook share button link. I merely type out the URL in Facebook messenger and Facebook messenger has been changing the URL automatically to a button that can be pressed on. Facebook then is wanting to follow where URL clicks are going to (tracking). The URL has been provided to our guests via RSVP cards and the save the dates, but some of them have been just asking for the URL when I am reminding them to RSVP via social media messengers. It has been a hit or miss for some.

We are hoping that the paged layout issue will be resolved soon!

As far as the Facebook issue, it is indeed an issue where Facebook is automatically changing the URL for their tracking purposes. While there is nothing that we can do at this moment on the WeddingWire side to fix this, our Development Team is aware of the issue and we hope to be able to work with Facebook to prevent this sharing/URL issue in the future.

When will the paged layout issue be resolved? I also prefer the paged layout, but the welcome page is still not visible unless clicked on by the side bar. I have changed my page to stacked for now, but I would like to return to the page layout,

Hi Erin! We don't have a timeline for a fix for this but we would be happy to keep you updated if you reach out to us at support@weddingwire.com.
