wedge heels on the beach?

lovebride, on February 7, 2011 at 1:25 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I am having my wedding on the beach and I'd rather not wear flip flops. At the bridal store they said a lot of beach brides wear wedge heels. I dont want to pay to have my dress hemmed and need a heel. Any feedback?

I'd break an ankle in wedge heels on the sand. but I can't wear flip flops. i'd go barefoot even if that meant i'd have to get the dress hemmed.

I know right, haha. I thought about twisting my ancle as I'm walking toward my fh. That would be special. I may just have to wear the wedge flip flops then change into heels for the wedding. Thanks!

I'm also having a beach wedding. I don't want to wear flip flops either. So instead I'm wearing "barefoot sandals". It will be something similar to this. I will be making it so it will be altered and in my colors. Check out my profile and the inspiration boards for more ideas.

I'd def go barefoot. But that's just me :-) I did wear wedge heels for my garden wedding though. They were hard enough to walk in let alone if there had been sand underneath. Oye! o_O

There is a thing you can put on the bottom of heels, go to solemates.com and you will see them. I am putting them on my heels for my garden reception.

@Roxanne, those are great for grass, but won't work for sand...

Are you having an aisle? if so have them put like a sisal rug liner underneath. They did that at my wedding and I work heels Smiley smile

We are also getting married on the beach and we are going barefoot. I bought kitten heels to wear before and after the ceremony so even though my dress will be hemmed to barefoot length, it won't look ridiculous when I have shoes on.

Just wanted you all to be aware that sandals on the beach kick up sand under your dress....

Click on the Google search box on the right side and type in "wedge shoe" It will pull up all our past discussions on this subject. There have been at least 10 since August 2010 and there are a lot of great links for wedge shoe ideas in the past discussions.

High wedge/platform flip-flops with some rhinestones will do the trick! And starfish hair comb or jewelry will add to the "beach wedding" look Smiley smile!! http://forprincessbride.com/store/DestWedding.html

You'll def roll your ankle! you'll be nervous and not so focused on walking as on the excitement! Definitely barefoot would be so romantic Smiley smile

I'm having a beach wedding and I'm wearing the barefoot sandals. The reception is going to be in a garden area though. I would like to wear heels for the reception but I'm not sure how that will work with hemming my dress. My dress should be here soon so I will see what the bridal shop thinks.

So I was just at the beach where we r getting married next year, and I experienced the flip flop kicking sand all the way up to my butt haha. Also I had forgot how hard it is to walk in the sand, especially where its not packed down. so barefoot it is. Thanks again!

Oh and here is a pic from our beach house, wedding ceremony and reception : )
