Wedges for Beach Wedding ?

Lisette, on May 21, 2018 at 8:07 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8
I am getting married in DR. The ceremony and reception will be on the beach . I am having a hard time thinking of what shoes to wear . I don’t want to be barefoot and I don’t want flat Sandals. I was thinking wedges ...Has anyone tried walking on sand with wedges ?

I think wedges would be just as difficult to walk in as heels, but I’ve never tried it. I know you said you didn’t want to be barefoot, but they have those crystal toe thongs that wrap around your foot and could be elegant?

I agree. Even walking on the beach with sandals can be difficult sometimes.. the toe thongs are elegant and comfortable. I would try walking on the sand with different shoes before you make a solid decision

I'm staying barefoot for the ceremony, no one will know and it'll be easier to walk in the sand. However I'll have classy flip flops just in case the sand is too hot or something.

These are my shoes for the reception, she can make them in wedges too, which if you don't want flats is your next best bet.

I would choose a low wedge. I'm not going to go barefoot on a beach with unknown sharps etc on my wedding day. The last thing I want is a puncture wound or even just the dirty feet.

True! But sand could also get inside the shoe and be very uncomfortable.

Are you not going to have the beach raked beforehand?

Exactly! I wore wedges as a guest to a beach wedding. Sand got in my shoes and I was so uncomfortable the rest of the night. No matter what I did I couldn't seem to get all the sand out! Thankfully the reception was in a covered area with tile floor so did take my shoes off and just put them back on when going to the bathroom.

This is what I’m doing for my ceremony in the sand. I got some really pretty rhinestone foot jewelry. For the dinner/reception/bar hopping in Old Town Key West afterward, I’ll be slipping on these sparkly wedge sandals. I can’t stand walking on the beach in shoes. Even flip flops drive me crazy when they fling sand up the backs of my calves. Smiley winking
