Weight is getting out of control!

Ashley, on September 7, 2017 at 10:17 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 30

I know there are tons of posts on this and comments. But honestly. How do I loose this weight i'm gaining. I work 30 mins from home (8-5) everyday. Have kids at home etc. How do I go about eating healthier and working on my weight. I seem to have 0 self control. Smiley sad I have tried almost every weight loss routine you can think of. I need some insight on what kinda diet/ work out plan could help. I am SO bad at meal prepping. I never know what to eat or what is healthy etc.. Sooo any and all examples would be fantastic! Plus extra support is never a bad thing either!

Have a look at the TiffXO program - it's run by one of the trainers from the Australian version of The Biggest Loser. It covers everything - meal plan (including shopping list), 30 minutes exercise (which you can do at home, no equipment needed) a day, mindfulness and the Facebook group is super supportive. The food is really, really delicious and filling! It is $49 (Australian) a month but the only month I've paid full price was my first one - there are always discount codes. Also there are no lock in contracts, it's month to month. Unfortunately it's just started for September but October isn't far away.

I do things like lean turkey instead of ground meat, yogurt instead of jello, that type thing. My go to dinner is chicken, broccoli, and rice. Healthy and yummy!! If you have a lunch break try going on a walk during it. I got a fit bit and it made me much more conscious of how much I'm moving, what I'm burning and taking in, and what I'm eating!

Have you seen a dietician? They can give you some great insight into what is healthy and what you should do to help loose weight. I am a busy mom too, so I understand the struggle.

FH cooks our lunches for the week on Sunday. Since he started doing this I have cut back on going out for lunch so much. I know it's hard, I work about 30 minutes from home in an office, so I'm sitting all day long. I have gained a ton of weight since I started this job. We have a 6 year old at home. We rearranged our schedules to make sure we work out 4-6 days a week. We realized that for our schedules it's best if we work out right after putting my son to bed. It takes some adjusting but you need to set up a schedule and stick with it. We go grocery shopping before the week and only buy what we will need for the week. We buy breakfast, lunch, dinner, and some healthy snacks. We plan a relaxed day or "cheat day" like some people call it. We know Sunday is our day to drink some beers, and maybe have a pizza and it helps us stay on track during the week.

Honestly, if you have zero self control no diet or work out plan will work for you. Not trying to be mean at all. It's the truth. I work similar hours to you and have the same commute time. What works for me is eating boring but simple foods that have little to no prep. Apple and pb (you can cut it up at work) salads and sandwiches prepared the night before, plain yogurt cups and berries, bananas, plain oatmeal packs with honey or maple syrup and fruit, cheese, pretzels, carrots. Focus on your diet first. Whole foods. Exercise when you can and build up. Diet is more important when it comes to losing weight.

I have actually thought about seeing a dietitian. Just havent been sure how to go about that. quiet yet. I think i may start walking during my lunch breaks. I do have a fit bit too. and if its a slow day at work I do not walk over 2500 steps in a day.. So I should start walking. I dont want to spend any more money on workouts and meal plans.. I have spent way more then I should have already. Smiley sad

You're 100% correct. I dont think it was rude at all! I have tried everything under the sun! And that is what I have concluded. I just have 0 self control.

My life changed when I found BeachBody. I had surgery a few years ago and prior to that I was super fit and athletic. Afterward I got way past lazy. My former trainer turned me on to the program and I haven't looked back since. I do BeachBody On Demand and workouts can last anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, your choice. They are all about portion control for healthy eating but you won't be hungry and you can also get a coach (which my trainer is one). She's been through everything that I've been through with diet and exercise and can relate (girl loves her margaritas!)

    I'd highly recommend it.

I meal prep every Sunday which helps me a lot. I do one meat on the grill, one in the oven and one in my crockpot and then just add veggies. It makes it so much easier and you don't make a huge mess.

Weight Watchers seems to be working for me. Also, try to eat more fruits and veggies as a rule - fruit and veg with every meal, and snack on those first.

For short term weight loss (my fitting is Saturday so that's what I'm working on now), I am doing no/low carb.

For long term weight loss, meal plan/prep. I've also done Advocare and really liked that, but also good ole counting calories.

What do you mean when you say it's getting out of control? How much have you gained? Is FH helping? When my FH is meal planning and doing the same thing as I am, it's a lot easier.

If you have cravings for anything sweet try chewing on gum instead. It helps me a lot.

Hmmm well then I would definitely suggest a dietician and a closer trainer. If you need someone to stay on top of you then they can't be four hours away.

A dietician will help decide what type of weight loss program is best. They can talk to you intelligently about paleo vs keto vs weight watchers etc. A personal trainer can help you with a workout routine and weekly or daily check ins if needed. But ultimately you need to be the one to motivate yourself. No one can force you to eat kale or go to the gym. That's on you. You need to carve out time for yourself and skip the excuses because the only person you are letting down is you.

    Agree with SDC.

Healthy breakfast: omelette with peppers onions and feta with some Greek yogurt (Dannon Oikos is my fav 15g of protein per cup)

Lunch: Salad with veggies and a light dressing.

Lean ground turkey burrito bowls with quinoa, peppers, onions, corn, beans, and reduced fat cheese.

Sandwhich wrap with your choice of deli meat and veggies

Snacks: yogurt, carrots and cucumber with yogurt ranch (actually really good I can't tell the difference, apple with peanut butter, strawberries, cuties, string cheese, sunflower seeds.. just some of my favs.

Work on eating a healthier diet before you jump into a work out plan. It's going to be hard to lean of junk food at first, so start with adding in some healthier options day by day and it will get a lot easier for you. I promise.

For starters, and not to be rude, you cut the excuses. Because that's what they are.

You learn how to cook simple things. You stop bringing things into the house that are trigger foods or foods you just shouldn't eat; guess what? Your kids and FH shouldn't be eating them either. It's too easy to say, "what the fuck?" and eat whatever it is if it's around.

You can work out at home; I do it four times a week since that's where I work...get a fitbit; get your steps up every day. I have the zip; you can find it online for under 50 bucks.

Pinterest has loads of recipes, eating plans and exercise routines. But it has to start with you. Once you get started and see results, you'll be motivated to keep on going..

    Good luck!

Brittany, I was just looking at the site. What are the prices for the packages? Or how do I find out prices?

I have struggled with weight most of my years on this planet lol, I am 35 and its always been a "thing" since I was probably in middle school. I just quit working a second part time job so I can start taking better care of my health, especially since I want to try to have a child with my fiance' in the next year or so. Honestly, you just have to make up in your mind that you want a better life and lifestyle. I have a Planet Fitness membership and they are open 24hrs a day. When grocery shopping I do not buy food triggers (ice cream, candy, soda) so that I can't snack on it because its in the house. Diets are short term things, but learning to eat right, exercise 3-4 days a week in my opinion are essential. You have to decide that your health is more important than anything and do what needs to be done. Its all mental first, then physical.

Eat no carbs- zero for 10 days. There after go low carb like a modified Atkins. The only thing that has ever worked for me and I have tried it all. Boring, yes, but I just feel better and oddly enough it also controls my severe migraines. Zero to no carbs when I need to be extra slim ( summers, occasion etc..) but low good carb (20-45 grams daily) and no white bread in general will have the weight fly off without a drastic workout plan.
