Weight loss before wedding

Kristina, on January 4, 2021 at 11:51 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 20

Hi all! I'm putting the cart before the horse (we don't have a date yet really) - but, how did you all lose weight before your wedding? I'm not opposed to a lot of things other than strong diet pills. I know I obviously need to diet and exercise but did you do anything extra? I want to lose between 20-30 pounds by that time (maybe 9-12 months away).

I use the app MyFitnessPal. It tracks your food intake and assists in what food to cut out or add to your diet. I stopped drinking energy drinks and started walking, and getting a gym membership. What you eat is really important

Intermittent fasting really helped me. My tendency is to mindlessly snack when I'm bored and that helped me to just take control back and learn to eat only when I'm actually hungry and to stop when I'm full. I also try now to have more veggies on my plate than meat and make an effort to incorporate more fiber (through beans, whole grains, fruits, vegetables) and that kind of mindfulness has made me slow down a lot.

Thanks! I've used that before when I was doing the HCG diet. When the weather gets a little better, I'm going to start walking every day too.

I'm trying this a little bit now. I don't eat between 6pm and 9 am right now. It does help!

I've never heard of Optavia but I'm going to look into it now! I normally eat 2-3 meals a day and I have braces right now so it's been easier not to snack in between meals but I still need as much help as I can get lol

I agree with Optavia! I started 2 months before my minimony and lost 30lbs without exercise.

Portion, portion, portion. There are people who don’t exercise a bit but they are skinny. Why? Because they don’t eat much. I observed this while traveling and visiting friends. In Japan or in France for example, the food are relatively expensive, good quality, healthy, and their portions are itty bitty compared to US food portion. In other countries fast food are expensive, so the majority can’t afford to eat junk. This, opened my eyes and made me picky on what I eat and cook for my dh and kids. My dh made sure our kids are used to exercise, and I make sure my kids eat mostly good food.

30 pounds in 2 months is amazing! I really will have to look into it because it sounds pretty easy and straightforward too.

I've noticed that too - in other countries the portion sizes are way smaller than they are here. I've been trying to limit my portion sizes as well. I normally eat about 1/2 what DH does but he works out nearly every day too.

I did the chloe ting 28 flat tummy program and the 2019 two week shred program twice.
They are free videos on youtube. No equipment needed, just a yoga mat.

I threw out all junk food and starches. Only ade veggies from salads, or as a side such as broccoli or asparagus. Would eat grilled fish or grilled chicken/turkey. When I had a sweet tooth, I would drive to coffeeshop for hot cocoa or drive to a fast food for ONE scoop of icecream. Best thing I did was keep junk food and fried foods out of my home!!! If I jad it lying around then I would overeat on it.
Ended up losing 12lbs in 8 weeks! I feel so much healthier and cofident. My body looks so much better. Went from a size 6 to a size 2/4.

I think that's my main issue - having bad foods in the house. I'll have to look those videos up. I'm always down for new workouts!

I started Intermittent Fasting. I used the app Fastic to track my fasting, and the app MyFitnessPal to track my calorie intake. I also try to get 10,000 steps a day. And I only drink water and decaf tea! I started in July and have lost 25lbs so far. Only 10-15 more to go! For inspiration I follow the sub on reddit for intermittent fasting. It really helps keep up the motivation!

For me, diet pills/appetite suppressants don't work. I like to eat foods that make me happy, but eat small portions of them. Intermittent fasting and/or MyFitnessPal will help. If you want to slim down a little more closer to the wedding, try the Keto diet--you drop 5+ lbs in water weight once in ketosis (make sure to drink plenty of water!).

That's great progress! My fiance has lost 15 lbs. without reeeally trying, so I need to catch up. I've been doing intermittent fasting 14-16 hours a day, sometimes more. I just need to be more dedicated to it.
