Hi everyone,

I got a brand new size 12 dress heavily discounted (real steal price) but I started as a size 16. Thought it would be easy to lose 2 dress sizes in 3 months. I am 5 1/2 weeks out and starting to freak out a bit..

Mar 16 - May 2cfb_1201571.jpg

I've been heavy lifting 5x a week and doing HIIT/or a workout video daily (e.g. 30 Day Shred, JM app, Fitnessblender) since March, added 1 hr of walking daily since last week. Eating a ketogenic diet, drinking lots of water, losing about 1lb a week regardless of reducing caloric intake and increasing exercise further.

I'm wondering if there are any brides who are working out and getting married in June/July? tips or inspiration?

Eat more fat. I did keto, if I ate too few calories I didn’t lose much. Lower carbs to 15 to 20 TOTAL not net.

I think your best bet is possible looking into a new dress entirely.

Thanks to everyone who left supportive positive feedback, tips and advice. I still have 5 weeks left so I'm going to keep going. I started as a size 16, now 14ish.. I will keep going and talk to a seamstress again at the end of the month if I'm not getting anywhere.

If there are any tips related to weight loss and exercise.. please feel free to keep sharing.

Thanks for leaving a comment that is relevant to what I asked for... the cost of a new dress exceeds using a seamstress so I won't be considering your idea. Why bother commenting? Lol

I also bought a dress that was two sizes too small because it IS the dress and I got it at such a great price. One big benefit of my dress is its corset back. It makes the dress much more forgiving. I would agree with other posters and see if you can get a corset back put in your dress. You're doing such a great job!

I wish I had any suggestions for you, but I have been in a rut myself after losing 20 pounds. Your pictures are inspiring though! Keep at it. You still have time.

Thanks! I'm thinking to give it a couple of more weeks. I tried on the dress today and it really seems like it will fit if I keep pushing. Can ask the seamstress to get creative if not really.

You look like you’re getting so close in that last picture, great job! Keep it up! I don’t really have advice for you because it sounds like you know it all and you know what works for consistency for you. Keep listening to your body!

Are you sure you are in calorie deficit? Honestly the bigger you are the more easily weight comes off? It's harder to lose weight when you are thin. Two pounds a week is safe. You have to measure everything to make sure you are eating in deficit. I'd probably see a seamstress now. Its cutting it too close.

    Agreed.

Naïve bride that I was, I assumed alterations were covered in the cost of the dress (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA) and now I'm looking at at least $300 more for alterations. Get a quote from a seamstress, and compare your options. A new dress from Azazie, CocoMelody or even etsy may run you cheaper!

Oh! And BOMB job with the weight loss! You are knocking it out of the park!

If you can get the dress done up in back, will it be comfortable enough to wear or will it feel snug and make you uncomfortable the whole day?

I'm not getting rid of the dress... I'm going to fit it. If there are fitness tips or advice related to fitness for this situation, please feel free to add something. I know my options if I need a seamstress and I don't need people telling me to get a new dress (haven't y'all seen my progress?). That's not what I asked for.

Anyway - thanks to everyone who responded with support and what I was looking for. I'll reply to new replies if they are related to what I asked.. the rest is unnecessary and discouraging honestly.

I'm tying the knot in Aug. I've been working out with a personal trainer 2 to 3 days a week. I started at 120 lbs. I work out every day for 1 to 2 hours. Yesterday l was 123lbs. Lol. So muscle weighs more than fat for sure..I think you should do interval walk an running on a tread mill ..although l love what your doing now much more. But to shed the lbs its interval walk to running on an incline if possible. That plus keto and you nailed it!! And yea with 5 weeks it's an ambitious goal to zip the back of that dress but l really believe you can do it. Thanks for sharing. Great work !!
