Hi everyone,

I got a brand new size 12 dress heavily discounted (real steal price) but I started as a size 16. Thought it would be easy to lose 2 dress sizes in 3 months. I am 5 1/2 weeks out and starting to freak out a bit..

Mar 16 - May 2cfb_1201571.jpg

I've been heavy lifting 5x a week and doing HIIT/or a workout video daily (e.g. 30 Day Shred, JM app, Fitnessblender) since March, added 1 hr of walking daily since last week. Eating a ketogenic diet, drinking lots of water, losing about 1lb a week regardless of reducing caloric intake and increasing exercise further.

I'm wondering if there are any brides who are working out and getting married in June/July? tips or inspiration?

Have you tried upping your water intake as well? I'd heard it said so many times before (and never really believed it!) but I have been committing to drinking 2-3 L of water a day, and have really noticed a difference on the scales! It's a bit of a pain- and you're constantly going to the ladies!- but it's something that we can all do, and can have real positive effects....

Also don't forget about the cardio that you can fit into your everyday life. Since I got engaged, I made a decision to never take a lift or an escalator unless I was going to a floor higher than 15! Its fantastic exercise!

Well done on your amazing progress. I think you've got this- don't lose heart and don't stop trying. You will fit into the dress by your wedding day, and you will look fabulous, I'm sure of it xxxxx

Congratulations!!!! on your progress is amazing. I started my weight loss goal not only for my wedding day but for my health and well being. However I was in two accident since the beginning of this year. So the one thing I truly love to do walking, also helped me with my weight loss goal. It is now very hard for me to do. So I must now rethink how I will reach my goal. Thank you for sharing this it is such a inspiration.

Loosing weight is much easier said than done for most people (myself included). You've made a good bit of progress though! But, it might be time to consider other options just to be on the safe side. Continue on your fitness routine; meantime, talk to an alterations expert and see if they can add side panels or something. If you can't, start looking for a backup dress immediately.

Wishing you the best of luck!

I'm going to try it on again next week after my monthly visit. I've lost a bit since I last tried it on but I'm a bit bloated now. Thanks so much for your support in this.

I could try for more water but I'm getting in 2 to 2.5L. Great suggestion anyhow thank you!

I'm active now 9-10 hours per week. Doing HIIT outside and going for 1hr walks everyday. There are 26 days left.

Thanks for your positivity, support and for listening to what I asked for. It's nice to come bac

Wow! Just based off your pics looks like you have done really well! I’d agree with the other comments to look into getting a seamstress to let out some areas or add fabric. Don’t kill yourself trying to fit and sacrifice your health. Keto diets are great! Have you thought about intermittent fasting? Another big thing that has big health benefits is water fasting but you don’t want to do that without doctor approval/ supervision.

overall just stay motivated! A pound a week is mind blowing! Good for you!

I’m not getting married within the next couple of months but I have been on the weight loss journey. I’m down 40 lbs in 8 months but I changed my diet and I workout 4 times a week. I workout at a boxing gym and it’s basically circuit training. Your always doing cardio, strength training & core body work. I also walk throughout the week so I’m always mixing it up. It took me months to get where I am. There is no quick fix for healthy weight loss. Good luck!

Girl look at you go!! I remember seeing this when you first posted and your progress is absolutely incredible! It seems like what ever you are doing is working, so I would stick with that! You will fit in that dress!

    You look great! Great job!
Suggestion on help w/ weight loss: Have you tried doing cardio in the morning when you wake up? I started doing it, and I noticed a difference (which is odd bc I feel that I work out harder in the evening, but morning work outs seem to rev up my metabolism). Regardless, great job!

Thanks. It sounds like we work out similarly, I appreciate you sharing. I used to train in the past so I know there is no quick fix. There are periods where my body holds onto weight and there are no changes in measurements. When I posted this, I didn't lose in comparison to my eating and activity. But maybe a week or two after, a lot came off. I just need to keep doing what I've been doing.

Thanks. I posted this thread in the midst of being stuck.. sometimes there are no explanations when you are doing everything you can do during a short period of time. I appreciate your comment and that you have encouraged me rather than telling me to give up my dress. That is constructive and supportive and what I hoped for when I came to WeddingWire. Thank you

I do all my workouts fasted, thanks for the idea though. I think I am doing everything I can and taken what I can from the suggestions I've got. Thank you for writing something supportive.

You don't feel tired in the evenings after a long day? I try to work out harder in the morning because there are some days where in the evenings I am only able to do 20 mins.

Thank you to everyone that provided constructive ideas about exercise and encouraged me in this topic. I think I've got the right kind of answers that built me up (seamstress comments were not very helpful). I am moving away from this topic now. I may post an update but I would to consider doing so first. I was really disappointed by the amount of answers that I felt were unsupportive or irrelevant to what I needed. Thank you and GL

Diet tips-, no bread, no sugar (sugar free water enhancers make this easier),no honey. count carbs and get to 50 grams or less per day. Up your water to your body weight divided by 1/2 - and that's your number of ounces. No eating after 7pm.

I bought a dress that is now too big to alter because I changed my diet to this. Being 4 sizes smaller is a good problem to have, tbh - but super inconvenient since I already had a beautiful gown.

I’m glad someone said this! I hate the “lifting makes you bulky” thing. It is so not true. HIIT and heavy lifting are great for weight loss and help you to continue to burn throughout the day. Anything more than about 30 minutes of cardio a day is a waste for weight loss purposes.
