Weight Loss Support!

nikkiray, on June 7, 2016 at 8:32 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 61

Hey everyone! I'm getting married in 8 months and even though I know my fiancé loves me the way I am I am hoping to be at the weight I feel comfortable. I am hoping to lose about 35 pounds. I got my dress on sale and its hanging in my closet for motivation! It look nice on me now but I know will be amazing when I shed the pounds. I was advised they can take the dress in up to 3 sizes so that's my goal! I'm am starting a diet and excercise plan and feel I can stick too it but am looking for a support group. I'm not always the best at following through so am hoping I can post my progress and get some much needed cheerleading and motivation! Any suggestions on things that worked for anyone?

I'll be here for you! I started my plan yesterday and I'm 9 months away and hoping to get 35-50lbs off. I am boxing 4 days a week and doing other excercising the other days (hiking, running, rowing, lifting etc) I'm cutting all white carbs and overly processed carbs and as much added sugar as I can. I am mainly going to focus on protein, veggies and healthy carbs like brown rice and quinoa.

I'm on mobile right now, but I'm a Kinesiology and nutrition major. I don't really like to get into these discussions on here because talking about dieting and exercising is like talking about politics. If you have any questions, email the mods and ask for my email. Fitness is my area of concentration.

I recommend using the Lose It app - I lovelovelove it for motivation, accountability, and daily structure (I maintain my weight using this app.) You might also try Weight Watchers to help support long-term behavioral change. (I'm a Lifetime Member of WW, lost 45 lbs over 10 years ago and still follow the principles.) While it's great to have friends online to help encourage, nothing helps us be as accountable ( I've found) as the external structure of a program. :-)

P.S. Weight Watchers has an online version of their program, too - called eTools. Smiley smile

    You're my date twin!

I'm looking to lose 40-50 lbs. Fitbit and MyFitnessPal have helped a ton. My biggest problem is not drinking enough water and needing to get moving more. I don't generally eat terribly, but MFP has helped me recognize the empty calories o consume - lattes and sodas especially. Cutting out just a few things but allowing myself to have everything else in moderation (cake, ice cream, fried food) has worked better and lasted longer than a super restricted diet and avoiding the things I love to eat.

Same here! I actually intentionally bought my dress too small so that I have to loose the weight. I've lost 35 lbs in the past and I've unfortunately put it all back on, if not more. My biggest obstacle is staying motivated. An all brides support group would probably help me so much

Thanks for all the feedback ladies! My biggest challenge is giving up my glass of wine! I'm meeting with a personal trainer today to work on the best exercise plan. I generally don't like working out so will be a rough starting out lol. I'm a teacher so luckily I have all summer to get a good Jumpstart and routine going. Sounds like many of you are doing the same so keep up the good work! We got this!!

I've lost 42 pounds since January by revamping my habits - eating out FAR less, counting calories, exercising, not eating crap. It's hard at first, but then you get used to it and it becomes habit.

I had started back up with my fitness pal and noticed that just being visually accountable for my eating habits helped out a lot and keeping track of what I had left for food made me more conscious of using those calories wisely. I also noticed that if I was running out of calories for the day, but really wanted a specific food for dinner I am fitting workouts more to get some of those calories back, lol

I'm thinking of doing a weekly weigh in to help keep me accountable. Anyone up for it and is there a day that works best. I was thinking Friday since it's before the weekend : )

I figure having to weigh in and share results would be good motivation. We don't have to put pounds if that makes anyone uncomfortable. Just how much we lost or gained

After a 70lb pregnancy weight gain, I was back to my PP weight by 9 months postpartum by using the myfitnesspal app. It really helped my stay on track and accountable. I also cut back on wheat (bread, cake, cookies, pasta) and cheese. The weight flew off, I lost 15 lbs the first month I started it, and my skin cleared up. Highly recommend!
