Weight Opposite

AEW, on August 2, 2019 at 9:01 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 24

Hi Hi

This is kind of a tough and touchy subject for me but here goes

I would like to gain weight. Like just 5 lbs would be ideal in that I would still be able to fit into my dress that I haven't tried on in like 2 years.

This isn't a recent problem and I've tried numerous tips, diets, tricks, myths, "old wives tales" etc and nothing stays. It seems the only viable option is kids lol

But seriously, I know it's like the opposite problem than most brides (and women) so let's talk about it.

I definitely don't have that problem..i feel like I pack on weight just looking at food..but have you calculated your total daily energy expenditure? If you figure out how many calories your body uses a day and eat above it, theoretically you should be able to gain weight.

I like the fitness frog tdee calculator.

    Thanks Sara.

I'll give a peek and see how to figure it out. I tried keeping a food journal once but I only kept track of what I was eating and not like caloric intake and stuff like that.

I'm a petite person myself. Although, I have never been specifically driven to gain weight. Some people do have trouble gaining weight. Have you thought about weight training? When I started lifting weights, my quads started getting bigger almost immediately. I hope someone on here has great advice! Good luck!

I’ve been in treatment centers for anorexia at several points throughout my life. Whenever I was having trouble gaining weight they gave me ensure plus drinks to drink on top of 3 meals and snacks a day. They are specifically for weight gain.

    Thanks and Congrats!

Maybe I could go with FH to the gym for a little bit.

I've heard about the ensure and have actually tried it. It was one of the few things that did actually work. A college friend had a prescription for ensure when she was expecting because she was just so tiny. I'd never heard of anything like that before. Perhaps I can try them again before November just to fill out a little. My issue with the ensure though was the cost. It's a little expensive for only 6 or 12 of those little bottles.

Yes they aren’t cheap! Target sells a 16 pack for $25 but it adds up when you’re drinking several a day.

My first thought is to try and talk to wrestlers or boxers. They have to gain or lose weight to make weigh classes. Maybe if u have a boxing gym around you can stop in and ask.

But mostly I'd say weight training will help u bulk

My FH has the same problem, peanut butter and protein shakes help him a lot. Anything high calorie that doesn’t bloat you up and feel heavy so you don’t feel sick eating so many calories.

    I know!

The best way I was able to get them was like a a bulk store like Costco or Sams. Then I could get like 60 or something for $50?

I know some protien shakes can help with weight, you should look at nutrition shakes or power as it can be cheaper. You buy the powder and then make it into the liquid yourself. I didn't need to gain weight but I had lost so much during illness doctors reccomended them just to make sure I didn't get too thin. You can mix it with whole milk, some people blend them into things like ice cream and yogurt. I do not reccomend the fruit punch flavors, I think they always come out bitter, but that's just me.

There are ways to gain weight in a healthy way so I would invest in a weight/nutrition coach so that you gain it in a healthy way and dont regret it. If you wedding is soon, just alter your dress to fit you like a glove and he yourself. You can't always help what you body does naturally. I would love a great ass but its flat and all I can do is try to build some muscle over a long period of time. Yes protein shakes are good

My brother had this issue too. He ate. And ate. And ate some more 😂 you have to feed your body more than it burns. While still eating a healthy balanced of proteins and fats. Good luck girl!

By your post, it sounds like your dress fit when you bought it, but after losing weight it is now too big. Is there a reason you lost the weight? If you have been trying to put on weight and are losing instead, you might want to check in with your doctor to make sure everything is ok health-wise. While some people are naturally small and don’t gain weight, it’s always good to make sure that it is from genetics and that it’s not due to a medical problem. Even something like being extremely stressed for an extended amount of time can make you lose weight, and there are things a doctor could give you to help your appetite, if that’s a problem. A doctor could also lead you in the right direction as to how you should healthily gain weight.

Same problem here lol. I’m happy with my weight, but I’d always be happy to gain a few pounds. I’ll be looking through the suggestions as well.

Depending on where you need those 5 lbs might be an issue - if it's just "overall" like stomach/ torso, then diet alone may be able to help you with what you'd want.

I do powerlifting, and once I got a few months into it my lats and shoulders have gotten wider, arms bigger, and big boosts in my quads/glutes. Waist is actually smaller though, and the scale changes are minimal. So I'm wondering if you really need a scale change vs. like a body change. Regardless, if you do start lifting heavy you'll definitely eat more LOL

I don’t know where you want to gain, but a bowl of ice cream every night works for me 😂
