Weight Watchers- Week 2!

Maggie N, on May 18, 2012 at 11:20 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 15

Soooo a little disappointed this week, I gained 0.6 lbs back. I know, I know, that could be due to anything, but I have really felt good and thought I was doing well so to see any increase in the number was disappointing! HOWEVER! When I went to track my weight and I put in that it went up, the WW online program quickly directed me to articles about why I shouldn't be concerned. Do you think they're lying to me??? Smiley smile Anyway, I used up almost ALL of my flex points (I have 49 to use in a week- twice this week we went out for ice cream to use up some and I got the lowest point item I could find!) so I think I will stick to trying to use as few flex points as I can and only use them for the overflow from a day (say I make a dinner and it is 8 pts and I only have 6 left for the day) or for special occasions. So anyway, just an update!!! Let's hope that next week I lose again so I don't lose any motivation!

I just finished 6 weeks on Weight Watchers. I have been cheating way too much and had 3 weeks of virtually no weight loss. I am eating way healthier - more fruits and veggies then ever. I look at labels a lot more and have had a few freakouts at how high some stuff is. For example, 1/3 of the points in a Chipotle Burrito is from the tortilla! It gets easier. I don't go over my points allowance quite as much. The weekends still kill me. And WW is a bit to generous with activity points, so I try not to eat into those.

After 6 weeks, my total weight loss is 6.4 pounds. I figure as long as I can average 1 pound/week, I am not going to be upset.

Woo hoo!! It IS amazing the difference in WW and just calorie counting. Very eye opening! I feel like the flex points are for the benefit of people who have never had any self control over food and are going from eating like, fast food every day to their plan. So I'm going to try to use as few as possible- use them for not depriving myself instead of rewarding myself!

Congrats on being 6 lbs down!!! It is good to hear that you had 3 weeks of no weight loss- it is encouraging that you stuck to it and started losing!

I wouldn't be alarmed I have been doing it for 6 weeks too never really had a good week lose about 1 to 1.5 a week but last week I gained!! I kinda slipped up last week actually used my almost all of my felx points.... but this week I have been doing even better at watching what I eat. I get 49 flex points as well and I get between 35-50 activity points each week I try to not use them at all I just use flex if I go over a bit for a day. Thats whats working best for me.. GOOD LUCK! If any one needs a buddy feel free to message me!

Try incorporating exercise. You will definitely see results. Just 30 mins a day or even 3-4x a week will help!

@Mariel, I would love to but I'm about to have hip surgery due to a sports injury so exercise is not possible right now.

I should probably start prefacing posts about this with the fact that I can't work out right now because I always get that suggestion and get defensive because I don't want anyone to think I'm too lazy to exercise LOL- I actually exercised too hard and ended up severely hurting myself Smiley smile

    Jump Rope does wonders!

eh I saw hip surgery after I posted this... yeah that wouldn't be a good fit.

Have you tried anything in the pool? There is some great stuff that would be easier on your hip...

You're NOT lazy! You're injured! Don't let anyone tell you differently!

I messed up my esophagus pretty badly when I did martial arts... it's the only kind of working out I really enjoy and now I am not allowed to do it Smiley sad I just got kicked in the solar plexus one too many times.

When is your surgery scheduled for? Take care of yourself and let us know how it goes!

I started WW at the end of July last year and am still doing it.... I was a bit disapponted at the beginning because I expected to lose big amounts at first... it was discouraging to go in every week and only be down .2 or .8 etc.... but I stuck with it and now I have lost almost 35lbs..... I very rarely used my flex points, unless it was a special occasion or I was out of points for the day....

I actually went 19 straight weeks without gaining, but like I said, they were sometimes very small losses or a few weeks I stayed the same....

I have a friend that losses large amounts and gains back large amounts... I wouldn't worry too much about a small gain... just keep trying and it will come off!

Weight loss is hard! Smiley sad

I have done well with my first 3 weeks with 13 lbs lost - but this week seem to have hit a plateau with no lost yet - but weigh in is not until Monday.

I try not to use up my weekly allotment and just use it here and there when I go over my daily.

Also did you get a scale? I just got one - and am shocked by what I thought was the right weight for a portion and what really was. (sometimes it was more - others less - just off in general) That might also help out.

Keep at it - We can do it!

Been on WW since March 2011 and have lost 20lbs and kept it off. I have 2 or 3 to lose for wedding but, in the beginning you gain and lose. my advice is TRACK track track! even if you taste something, say you had 1 point. also try not to eat anything with a lot of sodium before weigh in and weigh in the same clothes. good luck Smiley smile

    M. S. P.- OUCH!!! How the heck did you hurt your esophagus?? My surgery is the first week of June so a couple months after that I am supposed to be back in action. WOOHOO! I was a crossfit/bootcamp girl and it really was the only workout I've ever LOVED. Swimming- BLEH! Oddly, the one activity that I really don't enjoy unless it involves floating in a pool with a beer in my hand Smiley smile

Thanks for the advice ladies! Especially the scale and not using all of your flex points as they suggest! Also, you are right, Abiti. I have had a bite of FH's food here and there, I really should track those things too.

Woohoo! We can all do it!

Also, along the lines of tracking, a big part of this is being honest with yourself! Example: I just had a salad from Zoe's Kitchen with a chicken kabob on the side. In theory, I ate half of it. But I know dern well I ate half of the salad and ALL of the chicken kabob! Gotta track it like that, not hurting anyone but myself if I lie about it!
