Overrated. Just an extra expense when people should show up to see you on your day, not expect something extra

I'm doing these for our destination vow renewal, but only because of how much the guests are spending to travel. We only have 7 couples coming (or original wedding party from 10 years ago and their spouses), so we only have to do 7 of them. I would say, it just depends on how many you'd have to make and how much room you have in your budget. Ours will have a few practical things (hangover kit, sunscreen, lip balm, snacks, waters), and then a few really special items (cigars for the guys, champagne for the ladies, and a Polaroid camera and film for each couple).

Overrated for most weddings, and it is a extra cost. For a destination wedding I do think they would be a good touch and appreciated.

Hmmm, it depends. It's overrated for me because many of our guests live or are from my hometown, anyone flying will have limited luggage space, and extra work since I'm planning my wedding from out of state and will have plenty to do when I fly to my hometown a week before our wedding. They're a cute idea and something I'd do if I was getting married where I live or having a destination wedding.

Overrated. I had never even heard of this before now. But guests are already getting a favor from the wedding it seems a little redundant to get them a welcome bag also. It seems like another reason to blow money on something else unnecessary.

I don't necessarily think they're overrated. I think it can be a nice personal, welcoming touch for traveling guests. However, I can say that as a wedding guest, I probably wouldn't even notice if I didn't receive one when checking into the hotel.

I think a cute simple bag with some water bottles, tylenol, pepto (because you never know), pretzels, and a piece of paper with some information on timeline and what's in the area they may need to know about is a great idea.

Kind of overrated, but can be cute. Our hotel is near a nightclub, so some rooms might hear music at night so we're thinking of doing a welcome bag that includes earplugs--if we even do a welcome bag at all. Also keep in mind that a lot of hotels charge 4 to $5 per bag to put them in the rooms....but they can be free if they're handed out at the front desk. Just a thought.

I think they're a nice touch and I know I was glad to have a little bag full of snacks and champagne at the last wedding I attended.

That being said, I don't think I will be doing them for my own wedding. I think the extra cost and hassle will just be too much. I don't think anyone will truly miss them.

I think it’s a nice touch, but definitely not a necessity!

Eh, in another post I said how much I loved being creative and treating my family and friends, but this we are skipping and don't really care for. It is a nice thought though!

Overrated. Too much money and no one is even staying at a hotel anyway. Our out of state folks will be staying with family so I really don't think it's necessary.

Underrated. Never even heard of this before. I'm not even doing room blocks to be fair. Found a few of the cheaper places in the area and the hotel next door but they are booking on their own.

I agree, those who would be receiving the welcome bags are staying from out of town. They have had to spend a lot more money on your wedding than other guests who do not need a hotel room. Showing a little appreciation for that seems so nice and i'm sure would be very appreciated!

Definitely planning to do these. My friends and family will mostly be traveling to Atlanta from Texas. It is important to me that they feel welcome and comfortable.

I also plan to do nicer ones for the bridal party. My current idea is the give the groomsmen each a bag with Texas things in it since they're all from Atlanta. And to give my bridesmaids each a bag with Georgia things in it since they're from Texas.

I think it really depends on the wedding and all of those factors like how many out of town/state people you have attending.
