Welcome bags

Khayla, on January 12, 2018 at 1:57 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 14
Good afternoon ladies,

my wedding is next month, and I'm seriously starting to freak out. My mom is telling me now that I should have welcome bags for guests. We have a hotel room block for the wedding, and many of our guests are from out of town. Where did you ladies get your welcome bags? I'm looking for diy mostly as they can be expensive already made. I've found bags at Michael's and Hobby Lobby, but I'm not sure where I can get a stencil or something for lettering

I ordered the bags, tissue paper, and black and white baker's twine off of Amazon and ordered the tags off of Etsy.

We bought snacks, water bottles, and individual packets of Tylenol from Sam's Club. We did have 9 kids under 10, so I did make then special bags that had Wikki Stix (Amazon) and a mini coloring book and sticker packet (I can't remember if I found them at Walmart or Target) and, or course, excluded the Tylenol.

I recently attended a wedding where the bride and groom had provided simple welcome bags at reception (which they had DIY'ed). It was just basic stuff...a welcome note, a couple bottles of water, granola bars (from Costco!), single-serving bags of chips, and a packet of microwave popcorn (the rooms had microwaves in them). Don't stress or go overboard with it, it's just a little something to make your guests feel welcome Smiley smile

Following. We have a lot of OOT guests and I've been wondering since so many people are traveling should we have at least a little something for them.

Go simple. It is more about the thought and welcome then these elaborate bags of stuff. Think practical.

If you found bags, you can always make tags and tie them onto the handle with some nice ribbon. I like to make my own tags. I'm not completely tech savvy, but I'm pretty good with Microsoft word. So you can make some cute ones using that. Then, I just print them out on some cardstock. You can go with the straight look and cut them with an xacto knife or give them a fun look with design scissors. As far as what you want to put, that's up to you. I would go to Costco or Sam's and buy bulk. Also, buy things not only your will guests like, but you like as well in case there are any leftovers, so it won't go to waste.

I ordered cheap bags from orential trading that said “ thank you for sharing our day.” I just looked they are 5.50 for a dozen right now. I filled them with 2 waters, candy bar, a bag of chips, Advil. All from Costco in bulk. We also included an invitation to our post wedding brunch and directions/shuttle info to and from our ceremony and reception.

Welcome bags are not required for good hosting. Don't stress if you can't do it!

    Welcome bags 3

We got married at a beach resort so I got little beach bags from the dollar store and then put in a welcome note with itinerary, a fan, a deck of cards, chips, trail mix, candy, chapstick personalized with our names/wedding location, a small sunscreen, waters, and cookies that were UMD themed (either the logo or Testudo) that my MIL got (both H and I went to UMD).

We kinda went all out but I think a basic snacks, where to go in the area, and waters totally suffices. I've never been an OOT guest and NOT received a welcome bag.

I wouldn't stress about a welcome bag. Your guests aren't coming to your wedding expecting a bag of snacks in their room. If you want to do one, I'd suggest keeping it simple with a welcome note, and if you want to have a gift, maybe something special and unique to where you're getting married like a nice soap from a local vendor, fresh baked cookies from your favorite bakery, or even a cute list of your favorite restaurants or things to see while they're in town.

Welcome Bags are ****% UNnecessary. Though as a guest they are a nice little treat, but if they don't exist, I don't miss them.

We got our bags for a $1 at target, and they were Marvel themed, or star wars (silly bags). Got big boxes of snacks from BJs, think Cheez-its, goldfish crackers, and individually wrapped chocolate and water (skipped the Advil/Tylenol most people carry that with them). We put a bag of each per ROOM not per guest (saves you some hassle). Also a print out of times for Welcome Reception, and morning after brunch.

Haven't done them yet but am thinking I will and it will be simple. Plain brown bags with some cute stickers from our theme and in the bags - mini lemon zucchini loaves, some mints and bottled water.

Talk to your city, or the city in which you are getting married. Ours offers welcome bags from the chamber of commerce (then add your personal touches).
