Welcome bags

SunshineJenn, on August 4, 2014 at 8:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

I saw that Jennifer mentioned welcome bags in lieu of favors for her destination wedding and that reminded me that I haven't shared mine! I finally got these bad boys painted. It was time-consuming but not as much of a PITA as I thought it would be.

Also pictured, all the stuff we're sticking in there, minus the mini packs of tissues, salt-water taffy and the welcome book I'm putting together and printing this week.

The bags zip up and have an interior pocket, which is perfect for the beach.

Thanks! I cheated and used a stencil obvs. I had more ideas for the bags, but I procrastinated so long, this was really all I had time for. Which worked out fine for me because that was already a lot of work LOL.

Love 'em!!! I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I'm going to do them...I'll probably depend on how many folks wind up staying. I'm definitely putting together something for the kids to help keep them entertained!!! :-)

We did them for our destination wedding in Punta Cana. We got bags from oriental trading that said "Life is Better in Flip Flops" in all different neon colors. We out hand written thank notes and a schedule of events in each one along with the following:

    Sun screen

    After Sun lotion

    Aloe

    Advil

    Tums

    Travel toothpaste and tooth brush

    Cocoa butter lotion

    Chapstick

    Hand sanitizer

    Mini first aid kits

    Small beach balls

    Playing cards

Koozies with our names on them

We couldn't add food because we couldn't get it through customs. We also had to pay an extra $100 because the suitcase that we packed it all on was over 50lbs. It was well worth it though because everyone loved them!

Man, I hope the food won't be an issue. It's just a couple of things, and I've heard others haven't had a problem so *crosses fingers*

I wanted to include beach balls, but at this point, luggage weight is becoming an issue. One over-sized suitcase is already packed with nothing but favors and welcome bag stuff and comes in at 48lbs. TSA and Southwest are going to love us!

FutureMrsW, not necessary. But I'm having a DW, so I feel like they are in my case.

    Thanks, Kim!

For a DW, welcome bags are such a good idea...nearly every destination wedding I have been at has had them. And yours look wonderful!
