Welcome Party

Victoria, on January 6, 2022 at 8:14 PM Posted in Parties and Events 1 2
Hello,

My wedding is the weekend on February 18-20. In Key Largo, FL. I am doing my welcome party the 18th, wedding on the 19th, and a farewell/friends and family day on the 20th. My venue is a owned by a company who rents out houses that are on a big piece of land, which we have for the whole weekend, and they rent these properties out specifically for weddings. The property has its own beach, pool, houses, etc. Everything is basically a la carte with this venue. The venue has the vendors that they work with, but I have the option to book outside vendors as long as they have general liability insurance.
Vendors these days are expensive, especially catering companies. So I’m struggling with what to provide as food for the welcome party and for the friends/family day. I really don’t want to hire a catering company for my welcome party/farewell party, being that they’re pricey and it’s hard to get a small catering company who has general liability insurance. So basically what I’m asking for is help deciding on what to provide for food. I’m looking to have my welcome party and friends/family day be a little more relaxed. For Friday, provide beer, wine, & seltzers. For Sunday, probably have all the guys BBQ, serve beer, light drinks, seltzer, etc. For the welcome party, I would go with pizza for all I care! Lol. Is this acceptable for a welcome party? Need help! Lol

First off, your venue sounds AMAZING!!! Totally jealous.

Okay - our Welcome Party is hopefully going to be at our favorite Italian restaurant (too early to book yet) I will do a nice big salad (cuz theirs is amazing), a few charcuterie boards and pizza. I think that's perfectly acceptable for guests. If they want something else ........ they can find someplace to eat. Don't mean to sound rude, but it's free food for them! Your idea for the Sunday meal sounds really good, too. Who doesn't love a good BBQ? I say just go with what you can afford, and MAYBE have printed options for guests who want to try other local eateries ON THIER OWN. Again, not sound rude or nasty, but that's on them if they turn their noses up at your free food offerings.

Your venue sounds lovely. As far as the welcome party goes Pizza with some salads should be good you can also do a big hero or subs and salads or maybe tray(s..not sure how many people) of pasta and salad. I don't think you need to go overboard with food for the welcome party. Have fun!!!!
