Welcome Sign & Seating Chart

Imani, on May 28, 2022 at 10:49 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 18
Can the welcome sign also have the seating chart on it? I do not want the foyer to be crammed with a bunch of easels. Welcome sign on one side of the check-in table and the seating chart on the other. I saw this option on Zazzle and thought this could be a good idea for our welcome/seating chart. We’re already having a 20x30 ‘guestbook’ for everyone to sign that’ll be on the table. Are you having two signs? Three?Welcome Sign & Seating Chart 1

How many people are coming to your wedding? You can only fit so many guests on one chart. I like this idea & we are contemplating for daughter’s wedding. I also like where they type names out alphabetically on cards & then cards are secured to a mirror. A few examples below! Welcome Sign & Seating Chart 2

Thank you Cathy! We are expecting 100 guest. I like the mirror idea - but how big is it? I think it’s easier for the table numbers with the guest names alphabetical. I also saw another option with the last names listed and a number next to their name to indicate the table number they’d be sitting at, however I think with this option some guest might get confused.

When u look at the Zazzle board, I am not sure if 100 will fit on one board. We have 250 guests so I am trying to figure out how to most efficiently display names so not everyone is crowded around one spot so we may have to do 2 or 3 mirrors! I haven’t purchased anything yet & may thrift the mirrors. We will have a welcome sign at the ceremony which we will then move to the reception entrance right before the cocktails & appetizers. The table assignments will be just outside the ballroom. (A little bit of a walk from the entrance to the ballroom)

I forgot about the welcome sign for the ceremony. SMH. But it makes sense to just move it from the ceremony to the reception. One great thing for us is we are doing same room so we won’t have to move it. Here’s a few pictures of the foyer area. I really like the mirror idea - I just don’t know if we will have them big enough for people to see. I like the second picture but that might be too big. I’ve also included another picture I saw with the welcome/ seating chart. Welcome Sign & Seating Chart 5

I would skip the welcome sign and use escort cards arranged alphabetically which are easier for guests to read and they grab and go which helps with remembering their assignments.

Do you mean actual card tents? That they would pick up when they check in? How would they know which table they’re sitting at? Also, include a number at the bottom?

You can use tented cards or business card-sized cards in holders for escort cards. They would pick them up between the ceremony and reception (people have to check in for your wedding?). Each card would have the guest's name, the table at which they are seated, and (if you're having a plated meal) an indication of the meal they've chosen. It's much easier for guests, since they don't have to worry about forgetting their table when they (inevitably) get distracted on their way. It also allows them to indicate which chair they've chosen if they want to use the restroom or visit the bar.

Yes tent card. If guests are pre selecting a meal, then you would use colored card stock (available already folded on Etsy) with a color key for the caterer so the waitstaff knows who gets which meal. For example, your colors might be red, pink and cream. Red would signify a beef dish, pink for a chicken dish and cream for vegetarian. You can find someone local to write out the names or ask your friends and family with great handwriting to come over and make an assembly line of it.

The name goes on the outside front and the table assignment goes on the inside back so they turn it over like a card to read. What do you mean by a number on the bottom in addition to the table? This also is cheaper than having to reprint a poster every time you have a typo or need to move someone last minute.
They are arranged alphabetically and each individual gets their own. There are lots of pictures online for reference of table setups.

Sorry for check-in I meant signing the guest book. Not so much as checking in. I like the idea of the escort cards. It makes it easier for them to just grab their name card and go. This will cut down them searching every ‘table number’ for their name. I wonder if I can make these on my own and get them printed at Office Max.

I will look on Esty. I didn’t even think about typos and last minute reprints. You’re so smart Michelle! Definitely will do escort cards. They seem the easiest. We’re having buffet, but our guest are able to have both entrees.
I thought they’d have to have Guest Name and the number 2 on the card to indicate their table number. But you explained it really well as to how the cards will work. Thank you so much!

We bought our tent cards similar to these on Amazon and I printed them at home:

    https://www.amazon.com/Documents-Designs-Linked-Hearts-Quantity/dp/B01MUFHEW0/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3KDLVQQ46HLFU&keywords=tent+cards+for+wedding+heart&qid=1653851049&sprefix=tent+cards+for+wedding+heart+%2Caps%2C133&sr=8-1

My brother and SIL used the business card sized ones, and put them into bells that were something like these:

    https://www.amazon.com/Kate-Aspen-Kissing-Bells-Holders/dp/B003ASE06Y

It will definitely make it easier having the buffet since you won't have denote meal choice. I want to say we made changes until the day before the wedding (we had some people who were unable to come at the last minute due to ill health)

These are nice Becky! When you printed them at home what type of paper did you use? Was it card stock or something thicker?

These are card stock, so I didn't have to worry about any other kind of paper. They come in sheets that you break apart and fold yourself.
