Welcome Sign

Abby, on January 3, 2019 at 1:46 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 21
I wasn't originally planning on having one of these but I think I've decided that I do want to get one but I can't spend a lot of money on it. I saw some really nice looking welcome posters on Zazzle for really cheap and are on sale! My question is how would I display a poster? Or should I just try to find a real sign?

So, we bought a poster from Vistaprint (18x24 size) for like $3 on sale. It was just a standard welcome sign! Then I bought a frame from Michaels $40 but 1/2 off for $20 with a coupon from the app.

I decided I later wanted a more "acrylic" look for it so I used a white paint pen and traced the sign onto the glass. I'm in love! It feels more original, and more the style of our wedding than just a framed poster. We also used this method for smaller signs and seating charts.

That looks awesome! How did you trace the sign on there like that?

I just laid the poster flat on the table, put the glass from the frame over top and used the paint pen to trace onto the glass. It was so so so simple.

That's so cool! And worked out so well for you! I have such shaky hands that I'd be so nervous trying that lol.

That looks great! What kind of paper is it on? Like its sturdy enough to sit on that easel by itself?

I made a poster and printed it at OfficeMax and my venue had an easel that we set it on. I had the poster put on "foam-core" mounting so it would be sturdy and stand up on it's own. It really wasn't very expensive at all. good Luck!

It’s a foam board so it’s sturdy enough to just sit there. I thought about putting it in a frame but my fiancé likes it without a frame.

Hey Abby!! You could definitely display a poster in a clear frame or even attach it to a piece of cardboard or hard surface and set it up! I saw that Staples has corrugated sheets which look like they may be solid enough to stand up on something like an easel!

You can easily display it on an easel or frame it, always feel free to ask your bridesmaids for their opinion, this has helped me out immensely!!

    That is so good.

I think we are doing a small one that can fit in a table.

You can probably find a chalkboard really cheap and make your own! We're renting a chalkboard from a rental company and making our own... $10!

Weird question but is this the glass that came with the frame? I assume it's held on the frame with the tabs? From the picture it doesn't look like you can see the tabs but just wanted to ask. I want this look too but can't bring myself to pay $100+ on Etsy when i know it would be pretty simple to make.

I bought mine on Etsy along with a ton of other signs and just bought an easel from Hobby Lobby. We used Mulberry Market Designs, and they were great!

I thought of that but chalkboards aren't really our style.

This is great! I'll do this too. I didn't know you could get a large poster board for so little!
