I was on track to get married in Western NY on 9/6/2020. Everything booked. Was just starting to sleep again at night and get excited after spending much of the last few months on an emotional roller coaster. I received a call from our venue coordinator yesterday that capacity limits have changed, and even though they're "hopeful" restrictions would be lifted at the time, they gave us options. We made our list of 50 and got into an argument over who to include/exclude. We thought about what that day would look like.... That said it all to us - we don't want to do this. We *would* have postponed months ago, but our venue strongly advised us not to and would have charged us a few thousand bucks. At this point, being about 45 days out, they have informed us we can select a new date in 2021 at no charge. We plan to get legally married on our original date and have the big hurrah next year sometime (working on picking new date). I cried for hours last night out of sadness, frustration, anger,....and also relief. I guess my advice is to not compromise for less unless you're okay with that. Mostly just wanted to vent, and thanks to anyone who reads this!

I am sorry that you were not able to have the wedding of your dreams. My fiancée and I postponed our June 20, 2020 wedding until Saturday, May 15, 2021. We live in the metro Milwaukee, Wisconsin area and we can’t even get a marriage license because the courthouse is closed!!! We are hopeful for a better 2021 for our big day. Our guest list is over 250 people and we did not want to compromise and have a smaller wedding than we planned, so we decided to get married next year. Anyway, we wish you and your spouse to be a very happy wedding ceremony and a terrific wedding reception next year.

Gotcha. Not at all! Don’t compromise for anything less than what you want. I hope things improve in the future

Don’t compromise!!! That’s what my fiancé & I have decided on our wedding. At 1st we low balled ourselves, thinking we could have the wedding of our dreams for around 10k. We opened our eyes real quick but are not compromising on what we want! Happy planning!
