What's a buck and doe? This honestly sounds like a way to get money out of your guests- so I'm sure I'm wrong.

Yes Meghan... it is... but it is a Canadian thing and very expected. It is a big party that happens BEFORE the wedding to help raise money.

Sounds good so far Michelle..... don't forget to talk to local vendors and ask if they want to contribute anything for prizes.... doesn't hurt to ask.

A cake walk is always a fun fund raiser... we do it for the school here but if you and your family like to bake its an easy project.

Could you raise money with a photobooth? Maybe $1/picture per person? You'd have to rent a photobooth, but you'd probably make the money back- or you could make your own.

Yeah, we don't do those things down here...

It's ok, learn things new every day!

Photo booth, thats kind of a neat idea.

Pretty expensive to rent I think. We might do that

for our wedding! For part of the favor..=)

What about "shoot the buck" lol I think it would be cute to do something such as a nerf gun or pellet, $1 per shot..

Miranda- that's a great idea! The bride and groom can have a buck or doe sticker on their backs or something...

It would be easy to do it like a carnival and sell tickets to the games instead of people having to bring all that cash...

A cake walk is kind of like musical chairs... this is the basics of it..

•Mark off a large square on the ground with tape or chalk. Divide the perimeter of the square into 20 smaller squares (five on each side). Number each smaller square 1 through 20. (you can also do a circle)

    •4

Place scraps of paper, numbered 1 through 20 in a basket.

    •5

Sell tickets for one round of your cake walk. Ticket prices should be between 25 cents and one dollar. The more cakes you have, the more rounds you can have, so the less you need to charge.

    Conducting The Cake Walk

    •1

Organize participants into a group of twenty. Every person should stand on one of the numbered squares.

    •2

Play some lively music and instruct participants to walk around the square until the music stops. Then each participant should stop on a numbered square.

    •3

Pull a numbered piece of paper from the basket. The person standing on the corresponding numbered square gets to select a cake to take home

Usually the cost to play is $ 1 so if you have enough ppl its basically like selling the cakes for $20 a piece.
