We've been invited to a wedding... verbally.... on Saturday....

So one of FH's cousins ran into us while we're out running errands. She decided to invite us to her wedding this Saturday because, "We've had a couple of yes's who had to back out last minute". She then finished up with telling me where they were registered and that she really hopes we can be there...

So one of FH's cousins ran into us while we're out running errands. She decided to invite us to her wedding this Saturday because, "We've had a couple of yes's who had to back out last minute". She then finished up with telling me where they were registered and that she really hopes we can be there so she can "finally meet little Maria".... A) you live 20 minutes away and I've never met you, B) how rude/gift grabby can you be, and C) it's MaKyla....

I politely declined saying that we have other plans already, but that I hope she has a nice wedding. Her parting words were that she can't wait to come to our wedding.... Guess who's not invited.

Ya gotta love clueless people...

Omg. How embarrassing she got your daughters name wrong lol. DH cousin did this to me. She only invited him and then messages him on Facebook a couple weeks before her wedding saying that she got her numbers back and looks like she will have room for me. We declined. So rude!

"Hey come to my wedding that's in a few days because we have a few declines so I guess you can come." And she doesn't even get your daughter's name right??? Some people have no shame.

Yikes. My FMIL's friend invited her and FFIL to her last minute wedding 3 weeks beforehand via TEXT in Florida when we're in New York! FSIL and FH weren't invited. FMIL considered before seeing flight prices and now wants us to invite her to ours. She's not even on our Z list EVER! But that's because of a different story lol

That's very ballsy of her. Wonder if she will go whining to you FMIL since you're not attending and I assume not sending a gift. I know it's been said before but bless you for marrying into this family.

@SB my mom is really sick and after telling FMIL that she couldn't have more invites, she asked if she could have my mom's and her friends if she dies before the wedding. FH grabbed me while I was going over the table to sock her. We haven't seen her since. FH told her that until further notice we wanted nothing to do with her, and the police would be called if she showed up at our home. FFIL told her he was pissed and that she's embarrassing them both. We haven't seen her since. We still see FFIL all the time though.

Oh my goodness JaKLyn....I remember your post about that. That was HORRIBLE of her to say that. I think my jaw hit the floor when I read that post...I just couldn't believe how callous that was. Smiley sad

@FutureMrsH as terrible as it is there have been some perks. We haven't had to carve out time from our lives to cater to her. We've had so much more time as a family since then.

I've been invited by "word of mouth" by 2 cousins of mine, though they didn't word it like this person. Even then, in the years before I knew about wedding etiquette and such, I felt pretty insulted cuz I was like "seriously, I wasn't even worth a damn piece of paper, as in a proper invitation?"...and now I see this scenario, not only is it insulting, it's downright rude! I just know that after I was invited verbally to weddings, I told myself that I'd never do that to any of my guests

@ JaKLyn, omg I just read what your FMIL said, that's HORRIBLE, I'm so sorry that you confronted something that was so nasty of her to say. I think I would have broken FH's grab and socked her if I was in your place

I told Jason that there are people on WW (whom I've never met and have no relation to us) that know her name is MaKyla.
