We've gone back into lockdown and I'm panicking

mrswinteriscoming, on June 27, 2021 at 8:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Living in Australia we've had a pretty good response to the COVID-19 crisis though our vaccination program has been tediously slow.

We've now gone into a 2 week lockdown due to 110 new cases - the government's attempt to try curb this before more people get infected.

Weddings are not permitted during the lockdown and I am now in a panic. We are still 6 months out until our wedding but the no dancing rule will be in place once weddings are allowed to resume and I am so worried as to what things will be like in 6 months.

Do we power through and keep planning or try avoid wedding planning for the next 2 weeks while lockdown pans out?!?!

I am so sorry!! I have been enjoying your posts over the past several months and know how tirelessly you have been working out every detail for your wedding. I would give yourself a two week break from any planning to see what direction your government takes. You are currently in your winter when viruses tend to take over, but you still have nearly 1/2 year for vaccines to be administered and things to get under control. It's too early to panic (I know, easy for me to say) but I will send prayers your way. Best wishes!

I am just in a total panic - I know that others have even bigger problems on their hands (those due to marry in the next few weeks) but I'm just shattered because I can't go through postponing again.

Here's hoping in 6 months' time we don't have a repeat of what is currently going on.

It seems like they’re really jus rising an abundance of caution! 6 months is a long time. Hopefully a 2 week lockdown will allow you to open back up. It seems that they have been more ahead of the curve than anywhere else. Fingers crossed!

Hopefully once vaccinations pick up al the restrictions will be relaxed.
I’m in the US and I think we really started getting vaccinations around March(ish), at least where I am. I don’t think we have any restrictions in my state/area at least that I’m aware of. We went out to eat yesterday and even the server wasn’t wearing a mask. At school the kids still need to wear them during arrival and dismissal, but they don’t in class.
All that to say, February was only 4 months ago. We had 1,000 new cases in one day in January down to less than 10 new cases yesterday (in my state). Life here has changed a lot since then. I know it’s easier said than done, but try not to stress just yet. Wait and see how lock down and vaccinations go. I know I thought of you when I heard Australia was going back into lock down. Prayers for you and your country.

Hopefully the swift response to 110 cases is a sign that you won't have to worry about this in six months.

I would take this time to take a breath and try not to panic. Maybe don't work on planning for the moment, just so you can make calm, rational decisions and not decisions made under the duress of being locked down.
