What age is a junior bridesmaid?

lilanj, on January 4, 2009 at 10:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Just wondering on this one. My fiance has a niece who will be almost 8 at the time of the wedding. Is she a flower girl or junior bridesmaid? She is very excited so I do not think it matters either way but I want to make sure she has the right dress. I am only having a maid of honor. My other niece who will be 1 and 1/2 will also be in the wedding as a flower girl.

I think since you already have one flower girl you could make the 8 year old a junior bridesmaid. She'll probably get a kick out being the "big girl" bridesmaid and not having the little girl title of flower girl. sounds wonderful, best of luck!

Junior bridesmaids are girls typically between the ages of nine to fourteen years of age. Flower girls are usually between the ages of four and seven. The size of the child should be taken into consideration. If you have a petite 8 year old, she can definitely be a flower girl. You may want to have a partner for the 1 1/2 year old. When a child is that young there is a 75% chance they will not walk(have lollipops on hand the day of the wedding they work like a charm every time).

Usually jr bridesmaids are 7-11 years old, flower grills are 3-6 years old.

A jr bridesmaid in many circles is 10-17 because she is older than a flower girl and too young to be a bridesmaid. Among the people we know, flower girls are 3-9 years old.
