What anniversary are you celebrating?

Samantha, on January 14, 2021 at 9:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

Hello!

My Fiancé & I were supposed to get married in September of 2020, but had to move our wedding due to a last minute deployment + Covid. We ended up getting married at the court house, just us 2 & our one witness before he deployed. Our new wedding date is May of 2021. (Hopefully we don't have to move it again)

I was wondering if any other Covid brides have ran into the question of "Which date do we celebrate?"

The day we legally got married, or the day of the wedding that we're celebrating with everyone?

Let me know if anyone has any recommendations or suggestions! I'm curious to know what other brides are deciding to do.

I’m not a COVID bride, but I would celebrate the anniversary of my marriage, not the anniversary of a party. You could celebrate both if you want.

I agree, I would celebrate the day I got married. Not the day of the reception.

We are going to celebrate both! I had a client of mine say they celebrate their court house anniversary by doing something crazy like bucket list worthy or something goofy and fun. Then their formal wedding anniversary is where they do romantic high end dinner.

Why not both!? You could always use an excuse for date night, right? Plus, both are beautiful things to keep celebrating!

The date you legally marry. I am not a Covid bride, but that is what I would do in this situation.

Our court date was just boring old paperwork haha so we'll celebrate our anniversary on the day of our wedding! That's the special piece to us. Smiley heart (huge part of that is because his mom and sister live in France and couldn't be there for the courthouse with the borders closed so we are trying to put the emphasis on the day we can all be together Smiley smile )

My husband and I chose to celebrate the day we legally were married. It's actually our dating and engagement anniversary as well 🥰

Not me, but my maid of honor. They had to postpone and got married legally for insurance purposes only. So they will celebrate their anniversary as the day of their ceremony and reception, not the day they signed papers. I would probably do the same.
