What are y’all doing for the Honeymoon?

Richaelyn, on February 1, 2021 at 8:44 AM Posted in Honeymoon 1 42
What are y’all doing for the honeymoon? I kinda don’t want to travel right now due to Covid. Are y’all still planning to travel or are y’all doing the honeymoon later once covid is almost or fully over or no honeymoon at all? Also, if anyone has ideas on cheap honeymoon places, I’m all ears.

You can try Groupon for good deals. There are a lot of all inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic and in Mexico. I still plan on traveling. Hopefully to Italy and South Africa if they are open to visitors from the US.

We thought about going somewhere less populated like Wyoming, or going to national parkdms for hiking but now they signed the EO where visitors must wear masks on all federal land. Federal parls are huge and I've been to plenty of them where I can't even see a human with my naked eye. I have asthma and have trouble exercising on top of having limited air. So, we'll probably just stay at home where we can walk around outside legally without a mask.

Hit reply by accident. Lol I thought it was important to wait only because we want to be able to fully enjoy ourselves without the masks...

I feel the same way. That’s why I’m thinking to have a honeymoon fund instead of receiving gifts and use the the fund to do our honeymoon later, maybe on our 1 year anniversary ☺️. I want to fully enjoy and let loose on the honeymoon and not have to worry about covid and masks 😷

We want to go to Greece, but will most likely do that in 2022. Since our wedding was postponed from 2020 to 2021 our timeline for other things got pushed, like buying a house. That's our first priority this year after the wedding in May.

We're playing it by ear. We really wanted to go to Hawaii but I don't know if that will be happening. What we may do is a minimoon and drive somewhere for a long weekend and then have our big honeymoon next year.

We planned on taking a cruise to the Bahamas, but it unfortunately looks like that won't be happening. He really wants for me to utilize my passport since I haven't been out of the county, but due to Covid still being a factor that plan is going on hold.

So we created a back up plan, in which we decided on going to Palm Coast, FL and staying at our favorite resort down there.

We’ve been bouncing ideas around. More than likely going to do Block Island since it’s local to us.We’ve also been bouncing the idea of a road trip. We also looked into private plane charter to go to possibly the west coast or something. Surprisingly it’s not as costly as some might think, And it’s also safer than regular commercial airlines as you’re able to board at smaller airport locations and not have to worry about the major airport.
I personally wouldn’t recommend traveling anywhere outside the country as this could present a whole slew of problems if you get a positive result while you’re out there and cant get back home.

Hey there! I'm getting married in a week and really struggled with what type of honeymoon to plan.... originally we planned on going to Australia but that has been cancelled and we started research on cool alternatives.

Out of a respectful concern over COVID, we decided that our requirements were:

-Driving distance, so we could avoid the risk of flying/cabs/buses/trains/etc.

-A small hotel/motel/B&B that shows concerted effort to explain their cleaning process and guaranteed a 24+ hour "breather" between guests in any given room.

-Someplace that had plenty of outdoor activities and take-out/delivery food options so we could control our exposure level while enjoying newlywed life.

After an excessive amount of research, we decided on St. Simons and Jekyll Islands in Georgia. We found a 5-suite hotel there that seems very conscientious of COVID safety and was walking/biking distance from TONS of fun things to do and a downtown with plenty of take-out options for food. I figured this was the best way to plan something without it getting cancelled or excessively worrying if COVID got worse between the time we booked and the actual honeymoon. We are very cautious and I know many are still taking full on honeymoons - I think it depends so much on where you live now, want to go, and your comfort level during these times. With the exception of the cute hotel we booked, our cost will be only really the price of the food we order - everything else is pennies since almost all outdoor activities are free and the gas for a 3 hour trip is nothing compared to a flight!

Best of luck planning and, if you didn't already know about it, I highly recommend use of TripAdvisor for vacation planning. Its so helpful and totally free.

We are not much on traveling especially out of the country. So we decided on a few nights in a cabin to relax and recharge from the wedding, then we drove the beach to stay a few nights to soak up the sun. Best of both worlds! We live in TN so the most driving we did was 6 hours.

Great idea! We used Honeyfund—highly recommend. Some people here have used Zola but I think they’re better for retail registries.

My hubby & I were thinking of taking a vaca to a National Park or nature and apparently they’re PACKED. Sedona & Grand Canyon have been crowded. 😭

We’re likely doing a mini moon of sorts somewhere close. We’re planning on going to Bora Bora for our big trip in 2022 but possibly even 2023 depending on the state of things then.

We decided not to have one because of finances and FH just starting a new job. We plan on having one later this year though and going to the outerbanks which is some place I've never been.

We booked a local hotel room with a jacuzzi tub and spent a weekend just enjoying each other's company away from the rest of the world. Staycations are still refreshing Smiley smile

We had a cruise to the Bahamas for June 21st but ended up cancelling it due to COVID. We knew it wouldn't be what we expect and didn't want to disappoint ourselves.

Instead, we're going to split a week between Key West and Sanibel Island!

We postponed both our wedding and our honeymoon so it will now be for next year. Hopefully we can still keep our plans to travel to St. Lucia with nothing to worry about. Guess it depends on how this year goes.
