What are you getting each other for Xmas/gift giving season?

Ashley, on December 8, 2019 at 12:02 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 34

I have no idea what to get my fiance for Christmas. I asked him but he has no idea, I told him the same thing for myself. Gift giving season is hard because I don't want to give gifts that people don't like or won't use. I don't mind receiving gifts but I enjoy experiences more than physical gifts. I suggested that we do something different this year, but we haven't come up with anything.

What are your plans for gift giving season?

I agree with preferring experiences over material items. We’re both big UK fans so I’ll probably get her tickets to a game for Christmas.

I got my FH an early birthday gift. I had pre-ordered the new Star Wars video game. He absolutely loves it. One year I took him to a place called The Void. It's a fully immersive VR experience. I'm not sure how many locations they have but if you get the chance, that's pretty fun. I was never really into VR but that kind of made me change my mind a little bit lol.

I just asked this same question a few days ago cause I was having the same problem!

So I got him a couples massage and booked it for the Saturday after Christmas. He’s been complaining about his muscles for a while now and we keep saying we need to go but never do.
I am also thinking about getting him 2 smaller gifts for the tree, but I’m still undecided on those. I already spent a lot on the couples massage!

Well, we're planning on having a holiday dinner with our Ohio friends. I live in Ohio, he lives in Arizona, so it's going to be one of those special times where we're actually together and that's the best gift of all. Of course, with his not having been any further east than he is, yet, my gift to him is how to actually dress for the cold (he has called 50 degree weather cold; that's jacket weather here).

I bought him a watch and a cologne gift box. I will put some smaller things in his stocking as well.

VR sounds cool, I've seen videos on YTube of people going crazy with how realistic it is. I haven't heard of any place like this in my area. I'll have to look into that, I think I can get my fiance to try anything at least once.

Aww thats very sweet. Do you have snow in Ohio, maybe you can get some photos of him dealing with the cold. Bundle him up. I'm on the east coast and it's been cold snowy here.

These are classic gifts. I do love a great scent. I gave my Fiance cologne for his birthday last year, and he will not wear a watch. Its almost as if being "simple" makes it harder to find gifts.

We’re not giving each other a gift this year. Only because we’re getting married December 14th and we’re going on on a honeymoon a week before Christmas.

We don't have snow yet. We had snow for a couple of days in November. He's looking forward to snow, I've seen it every year for years and I have to say, it's a LOT more fun to look at if you don't have to go out into it. Needless to say, we have to go shopping for him some Ohio winter gear as soon as he lands. 🤷🏾‍♀️😄 We plan on getting our engagement photos while he's here. Some of them outside. We also plan on all going ice skating while he's here. So plenty of opportunities for cold shots. Lol.

My FH and I both agreed that with getting a place together yesterday, the wedding, and all of our other expenses, money is pretty tight. So we’re going to get our daughter one nice present, and we’ll give each other our love and appreciation this year.

Echo dot! My husband has been begging me for one and I think they’re so dumb. Amazon had a great Black Friday deal, so I got 3. Hes going to be so surprised!
But my husband is very vocal about things he wants, easy for me!
Me on the other hand, I don’t usually have a list. His shopping is hard, lol.

I got FH a smart watch since his died. I know he’s making me something (he’s very Handy and surprisingly crafty) because he’s been working on it for several weeks in the garage. His bday is February 4 so I try do experiences for his bday.

It's totally worth it. Hopefully you'll have something like that near you to explore. If not, even if not for Christmas, check out locations for The Void when you go on a trip.

We did experiences last year and it was the best idea. I bought him a cooking class at our local grocery store (Publix) and we had a blast. He bought me a bioluminescent kayaking experience for us to go on that's offered in the summer in florida, but was one of the coolest things I'd ever seen.

This year I went in on a bike for him. I have a bike and we wanted to start riding together. He got me a Maya Brenner necklace that I've been wanting forever. It'll be a combined Christmas/birthday gift.

We aren't getting each other anything. The wedding is costly enough lol. However, we go special dates all throughout the month (ballet, UFC fight, ice skating and light show, etc).
