What are you serving at your wedding?

FH and I are leaning towards a breakfast buffet (for dinner; 4pm ceremony with reception to follow) with a donut tower instead of a traditional cake. Our favorite meal is breakfast for dinner and since we are having an outdoor December ceremony we think coming inside to a hot breakfast would be so fun. Plus we think it would be nice to have a break from more traditional meals since our wedding is smack dab in between Thanksgiving and Christmas and people might be a little burned out on the usual. We’re thinking bacon, sausage, fried chicken (which would also serve as alternate) eggs, grits, hash browns, etc. with a cheese and fruit spread and possibly a waffle station with different toppings (idk if that would be too much with the donut tower). And for the bar maybe beer and wine with different mimosas. Idk, it’s just a thought for now. Any feedback is appreciated also I would love to hear what everyone else is serving!

I'll put my 2 cents in on this topic. Why is it rude to have an outdoor wedding when it's chilly out but not rude to have an outdoor summer wedding? I personally would much rather go to an outdoor wedding where I could stay warm under a blanket than go to an outdoor summer wedding where I'm a sweaty mess. I hate hot outdoor weddings but they seem to be ok with everyone.

They're just as rude. Guest comfort must be one of the highest priorities for any event, wedding or regular life, someone has.

I would be at that wedding and taking like 20 trips to the buffet! I LOVE your menu!

This is an awesome idea, Taylor! Are you going to go ahead with it? Have you found a caterer yet?

I love breakfast for dinner! But as previous posters have mentioned, I'm not sure that all guests would like this. It's definitely more acceptable with a younger or less formal crowd

We're doing a brunch menu for our morning wedding.

Not sure if/what we'll do for appetizers. Our alcoholic drinks will be mimosas, wine, and beer. Cupcakes + Coffee for dessert!

Here's the menu sign I just made:

What are you serving at your wedding? 1

    Entrees:

-Farmer's Casserole: Sausage Or Vegetarian/Gluten Free

-Breakfast Sandwiches: Bacon, egg, & cheese croissant Or Egg & Cheese English Muffin

    -Riviera French Toast

    Sides:

    -Applewood Smoked Bacon

    -Maple Sausage Links

    -Hashbrowns

    -Melon Berry Fruit

    -Mini Southern Ham Biscuits

I am going to go against other posters here and say do what you want! If you want breakfast for dinner, go for it! I have been to a wedding with breakfast for dinner and it was a huge hit. People still talk about it. It's original and that is what your guests will remember! I also think your alternates will be enough for those people that do not want breakfast foods. I just don't think some of the commenters on here are up for original ideas Smiley tongue Let me just tell you I would also be hitting up that waffle station!

I think this whole idea sounds awesome! Your wedding is, yes, about celebrating with your guests, but it's about celebrating you two!! Make it something that really matches you as a couple! My FH found a GORGEOUS rustic venue run by Jeffrey A Miller catering (which I highly recommend anyone in the PA/NJ/NY/CT area look into) that really fits us! It's very rustic, is able to incorporate indoor and outdoor settings, and all of the food is directly farm to table! Our menu is themed throughout being very autumn and rustic. Yours being consistently breakfast/brunch themed sounds awesome and super fun! I would love to attend a wedding like that Smiley laugh

Honestly having a hard time figuring out what to serve we have so many ideas. We are definitely doing cake and “wedding punch” (sorbet/ ginger ale mix) and then we are getting appetizers and finger foods probably from a few places. Thinking Roosters chicken wings and Panera sandwiches. FH really wants a Chipotle chips/ dip spread as well. Although at this rate I told him we might as well have a sit down meal from our favorite Italian place because it’ll cost just as much.

I just don’t think it seems right to serve breakfast for your wedding dinner....I agree with others that everyone else might not love breakfast. Unless you’re planning on a super casual wedding. Maybe for the rehearsal you could do breakfast? Or your bridal shower...
