We are going a little nontraditional from the red meat-or-chicken thing and offering a choice between a
Pork Chop with Green Tomato Emulsion Sauce
-or-
Plank-Roasted Pacific Northwest Salmon with Caramelized Fennel and Radish Tapenade (Salmon is totally popular up here and surprisingly not expensive)
-or-
Vegetarian Risotto
Sides are roast potatoes, sauteed green beans with hazelnuts, and a salad with lots of summer fruits mixed in. To save on cake (MAN are wedding cakes exorbitant!) we are getting a platter or two of tiny finger desserts and then just a small cake that's more about upholding tradition than anything else.
Love reading you guys' choices....though it makes me wish I didn't just eat lunch!!
Here's a pic of the Adult entree, it was chicken, rice veggies and salad, with pie on the side. The kids entrees were chicken nuggets, mac n chesse and apple wedges. Ours was done in by Marie Callendars in the private banquet room.
We are also going a little different and having a taco/nacho bar, bbq pulled pork sandwiches, and sliders with a toppings bar. Plus vegetarian chili and two kinds of salads.
Our apps are a crudités display, and then hot passed mac and cheese bites, black bean soup shooters with mini cheese quesadilla garnish, and philly cheesesteak eggrolls. I can't wait!!
We are having a buffet. the reception is outside under a pavilion with a huge grill. The menu is going to be grilled chicken, grilled steak, and grilled salmon. along with a bunch of sides (pretty standard: salad, pasta, veggies, etc...)
For the entree's we're having roast sirloin of beef and Chicken Madeira (chicken in port wine sauce and mushrooms) then we're having a tossed salad, veggie tray, fruit tray, smoked salmon, cheese tray, a pasta salad (haven't picked what yet) brown sugar carrots, garlic roasted red potatoes and rolls.
Chicken Marsala, Roast Pork Loin with Demi-Glace, Sliced Beef, Au Jus. salad rolls coffee tea oven roasted potatos italian green beans and pene pasta with alfredo sauce. our cake is a dominican cake with a dulce de leche filling.
We are having a buffet with 3 proteins, 8 salads, 2 starches, and bread. We decided to go with prime rib, chicken marsala, and salmon (so meant, chicken, fish), there are a few types of green salad, a couple pasta salads, and a fruit salad, the starches are a rice and a potato. I figured this way we had everyone covered so hopefully no one will go hungry especially when you include the appetizers
We have our tasting this weekend but I know we are starting with a salad, then the entrees will be the choice of filet mignon, some sort of fish (either crab stuffed sole or salmon depending on the tasting), and then a vegetarian option- not sure what it will be yet but it better be good since I am a vegetarian!
