Making Christmas Eve the big meal day and keeping Christmas Day low-key is such a good idea! And awesome that she gave you her secret recipe, that's definitely a sign that she appreciates you. The Trader Joe's appetizers are a fun tradition for Christmas Day! Do you think you'll get the same specific appetizers each year? Or planning to switch it up?

Our main holiday traditions together revolve around family get togethers. My family gets together on Christmas Eve, then, because my parents hated the idea of not getting a Christmas with just us kids, we end up at their house to do our immediate family Christmas. We'll go home, finish wrapping each others gifts 😂 and then wake up in the morning and do Christmas together with the dog(s). It's our first year having two dogs, and the newest one we've only had for two months, so we're expecting chaos lol. Then we'll get ready and do his family Christmas. In years past we've had two separate ones like my family does, but as everyone is getting older we're just going to his parent's and doing presents with them and his sister's family.

Normally we just go home afterward and crash on the couch for the rest of the night and eat a frozen pizza or something for dinner. Two years ago we ended our Christmas celebrations with me taking him to the ER for appendicitis, so that's now a pretty typical joke that comes up every year.

The numbered gifts sound so fun! We always have done ordered gifts in my family, but got to have our pile in front of us first. Trying to search for them in the large pile of gifts would be awesome.

Oh my gosh, I absolutely love how meaningful those traditions are for both you and your fiance! Such a beautiful way to honor the loved ones in your lives. That was super sweet of him to surprise you with the donuts and coffee, and also super sweet of you to surprise him with the hot cheetos and Gatorade!

That butter sounds interesting! Let us know how it turns out!

The weather has been somewhat of a roller coaster here too - anywhere from 30°F and super windy, up to 60°F and sunny. My fiance is hoping for a white Christmas (he's been watching the Christmas weather forecast daily lol), though it's a coin flip as to whether it'll actually happen. I hope your Christmas weather turns out perfect!

I know I am over the top crazy, but ..... when the kids were little, Santa would wrap each child's gift in their own paper ... like Thom got power ranger paper and Shawn had sponge bob. That sort of thing. So the kids knew which pile was theirs without having to read a tag. The tradition continued on .... UNTIL NOW (cue dramatic music) Now momma still has 2 distinct wrapping paper(s) [baby yoda and nintendo] BUT ... dum dum DUMMMMMMMMMMM .... they are random. Tag reading is now a must do, not just for the number but for the NAMES. Bwa ha ha ha ha [evil laugh]

AND ........ we leave in about 10 hours to pick up my 'baby boy' from the airport and bring him home for Christmas. YYYYYYYYYYaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Did I mention it has been 11 (ELEVEN) years since I've had both my boys together with me for Christmas??? ~happy sigh~

Awesome that you get together with both of your families for the holiday! I especially love that you are spending time with the dogs on Christmas morning. Hopefully it's less chaotic than you are anticipating!

Thank you! It's looking good so far, fingers crossed it happens! It's super pretty when it does actually happen, especially when it's the light/airy snow and not ice, and Christmas decorations all around. Hopefully you get the chance to experience a white Christmas sometime!

I think you're from Michigan as well, right? We're currently looking at a bunch of rain for Christmas Eve and Christmas, so I truly hope you're in a better place to actually get some snow! I hate that our area like never gets decent winters.

I am in Michigan! The lower peninsula looks like rain for Christmas, though my fiance said that the UP should be getting snow.

Fingers crossed, lol!! 🤞 Sounds like you're in the lower peninsula? Hopefully it doesn't rain the whole day on Christmas. Though, even if it does, I suppose it's easier to drive in rain than snow, so there's at least a small silver lining there. We live in the lower peninsula, though my fiance has family in the upper peninsula. I feel like the lower peninsula used to get some awesome winters, but it's been so mild the past few years.

Yes, we're in like the middle of the lower peninsula, so usually north and south of us will end up with snow and we have nothing. We both went to college in the UP so we really miss the snow and winters. I have been saying for a while now that the winters down here have just gotten worse and worse. I remember growing up that we would have white Christmases often, but now we're lucky to get a few days of good snowfall and it melts and gets gross so quickly.

    Hi ! Merry Christmas !

Me and my husband come from 2 different countries and usually spend Christmas in one of them every other year... So the traditions are very different in both houses, both families... But before Christmas we like to go to the church when we got married, then we have a nice restaurant and go to the traditional Christmas market :

(our first date was actually there in 2014).

And at home we watch some movies, especially "Love Actually"...

A belated Merry Christmas to you!! Awesome that you get to experience multiple different traditions each year, depending on which country you're in. I love the idea of Christmas markets. The movie tradition is fun, Love Actually is also one of the Christmas movies that my fiance and I watch every year!
