What are your wedding planning pain points/headaches?

Lexie, on July 25, 2019 at 10:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Fellow Bride-to-be's, just wondering if I was the only feeling disoriented and exhausted in wedding planning, specifically in finding decorations.

There are some bigger decorations like floor lanterns that I really want to rent instead of buy, but it's pretty much impossible to find everything I want from just one vendor. I have to check out so many vendors to find what I want, which makes it really time consuming and kind of worthless. Wha't the point of getting whole bunch of different decor vendors... Both of us work a lot during the week, so we really don't want to spend so much time on just checking out different vendors.

I was also originally thinking about renting as many decorations as I can, from centerpieces to pew markers. But that seems like impossible to do too. I can't really find a lot of the smaller decors from rental vendors. I really wish I could just rent those things from other people. Now it looks like I'm going to have to buy most of my decorations.

Do you guys have any headaches like this when looking for you wedding decorations? Do you know if there's any wedding places/websites where I can just send in all my decorations later for some money back? I really don't want to spend time putting everything online for sale.

I can see where you're coming from. After my wedding I had so many friggin knick knacks that I purchased for the wedding that I didn't know what to do with. So renting things at least helps you save on the amount of space.

Hey Lexie!! I’m so sorry that you are feeling like this.

Have you looked into DIYing some of your decor to save you money when buying items? There are some really great tutorials on Pinterest and YouTube on beautiful looking DIY wedding decor. It might be worth your while if it saves you some money. It could be fun too!

Sometimes it's cheaper to buy and yes you can resell thing to get your money back. I actually am borrowing some decor from a friend. Otherwise there are plenty of sales to get ahold of from craft stores. Buying it yourself you can resell and get your money back. You won't get your money back renting things for some perspective. I am a bargain hunter so I am constantly price checking different craft stores and online stores.

I got lanterns for $9 a piece during a michael's sale and they're huge, bigger than the ones at walmart and for cheaper. Honestly I plan to sell them back for the same amount. I wouldn't up-charge your items. I see people re-sell items for way too much and I found them in stores cheaper. I found led pillar candles on amazon in a 12 pack. Ordered them, but turns out they were too short and too skinny. That's okay I am returning them and I found a different candle that will work better. They're a little more money but worth it for the look!

Yea. I can already see all my wedding decorations stuffed in boxes in my basement. Lol. I’m not really big on having keepsakes, so most of the things are just going to be used this one time and then put away...

Thank you Sinéad! I did think about DIYing some of them, but unfortunately I’m not particularly crafty.. 🙁 I might still try diying some small decorations that people won’t give a close look.. lol.

Thank you Angelena! I’ll try to check out more online stores. I mostly didn’t want to deal with the resell afterwards, so I was really hoping I could just rent most of them. But I guess that’s part of the process of having a wedding ceremony. Lol.

Yeah you could try out renting some things then so you at least don't have to deal with the aftermath. For reselling, I would just use websites where you don't have to deal with paying for shipping etc or like facebook marketplace weirds me out since you go to someone's house or a mutual meeting spot. I like ebay personally. For sure don't up-charge though. I find it hard to believe people paid $30+ for one lantern I am just like nope you're crazy! I figured I put the same price I bought them for on sale and that's fair.

I'm with you. I feel weird about meeting up with people to buy/sell stuff too. And yea, up-charging for something used is definitely ridiculous to me too! Since I just want to get rid of the stuff, I will probably put it up for less than what I paid for. Hopefully that will get them sold faster.
