What can i do!

Traci, on April 26, 2022 at 11:42 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 3 13
Ok....so I want flowers a good amount. The ceremony will be at a church. I will have to dress up the place.....with flowers right? Seats aisle alter etc. The reception venue will provide decor. But I want flowers big centerpieces and floral runners. I want a flower wall too. To save on money I can do ALL that. I love to diy . The only thing I'm thinking about is what the heck would I do with all that after the wedding.
Some things I will keep but what yall think help me out. Thanks

You could ask around about donating them to a local nursing home or hospital. Of course, make sure you ask if they'd take the flowers first before just unloading a massive amount of flowers lol

Just wanted to clarify, are you talking about real or fake flowers? Doing all of that yourself with real flowers would be very challenging since you can’t do much until the day before, or even of, the wedding.

This is a good point. Keep in mind you will also need a cool space to store fresh flowers in water right up until the wedding begins.

If you are talking about doing artificial flowers then you have a lot more options for resale/donation after you are done!

You could repurpose, sell, or donate them afterwards. I'm using real flowers preserved in glycerin so I can compost the extra after my wedding.

Many have already made the suggestions of donating the flowers. I agree that nursing homes or hospitals would be great ideas, particularly for patients at both who don't have family nearby who can visit very often. If you don't want to donate all of them, I would offer to the guests that they can take some if they want. They might be a nice addition or alternative to your standard favors.

Contact a local funeral parlor to donate to. Often families can’t afford flowers after other expenses.

Well you can keep all out store it in your garage if you have one or in a storage unit. Because if you ever decide to throw a party dinner party holidays get together you can use some of it. Because that is what I'm doing as long as it is in good condition. Especially how much money that you spent on all of that. And when it comes or someone else might need some decorations for something and if they ask you if they can use it. If you let them just a few ideas I hope that this helps.

I will be repurposing my flowers (with the help of my bridesmaids) overnight! So we will have lots of (sola) flowers as well, and I also have a lot of guests. For the Sunday brunch after my wedding (and guests that don't go but are still at the hotel) I am going to make little to-go thank you bags they can pick up with a flower through it. They will just be little paper bags and I'm going to stem the flower through it so everyone gets that as kind of a little favor as well, and I don't have to look at ALL the flowers for the rest of my life!

There are tons of facebook groups (look in your area) and facebook marketplace where people are able to sell wedding decor.

Look into sola wood flowers! They seem to be about a third of the price of florals

You can always reuse or let family members or friends use it for their occasion just cover it up. It will save more money. Because that's what we are doing some of my friends are going to use some of it. Now I did tell them if it gets broken they have too pay for it. I have a variety of things that they can use from vases too tea lights etc.
