What color does the flower girl wear?

Danielle, on February 4, 2020 at 5:49 AM

I have seen it done both ways, they either wear white or the same color as the bridesmaids, I’m not sure which one is better! Thoughts? Our color is burgundy (Cabernet technically).

I agree I like that too! One of my flower girls is going to be in my fiancé’s cousins wedding three months prior, so I’m thinking if we both pick white she can wear the same dress twice and her mom doesn’t have to pay for two different dresses

That’s a good idea! Or a belt or head piece or something. One of my flower girls is going to be in my fiancé’s cousins wedding three months prior, so I’m thinking if we both pick white she can wear the same dress twice and her mom doesn’t have to pay for two different dresses

There are a LOT of wedding traditions that don't make sense. I refuse to stand on the left because it represents marriage by capture. And no, the wearing of white does NOT represent purity. It comes from Queen Victoria choosing her wedding dress as white, and her popularity with her kingdom. People changed their wedding gowns from "their best dress" to a gown they couldn't afford that was clearly to be worn once to prove they could afford to do so. It's a showing of extravagance and wealth.

Thank you! I didn’t really want her in a white dress (like an Easter type dress) because she will be 11, so I didn’t want it to look like she was like a child type flower girl lol. But I found this dress and loved it!

In my religion white represents purity which is why the bride wears white and why the flower girls wear white.

Oh. Yeah. Thatd be nice. We bought our flower girls and ring bearers outfits, but it cost us less than $100 for all 4 of them.

You could definitely do white then! If you wanted something different for your wedding, you could pay for her dress. My mom paid for my flower girl's dress since she's my niece. I know some people pay for their flower girl/ring bearer's clothing but others don't so I was just throwing that out.

I’m thinking maybe a dress with a white top and the skirt part in either green like my bridesmaids or blush pink which is our secondary color

I found a dress that is a lighter shade of purple than what the bridesmaids are wearing. It's white lace on top and and like a lavender on bottom.

Do you have an accent color with the burgundy? I would go for that one. I prefer when the bride is the only one is white. My flower girl will be wearing a blush pink dress that is an accent of my main color scheme.

Ours didn’t wear either. Our colors were mint, coral, and gold. The bridesmaids wore coral and the flower girl wore mint.

I do I think it’s going to be silver though. My MOH is going to have a sparkley top and burgundy bottom and the rest of the bridesmaids will be all burgundy
