What Decor Besides Flowers/Candles?

Megzie, on March 5, 2015 at 5:32 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 16

Hello Lovlies--Im curious about what type of decorations that you are doing besides flowers, candles, and picking table clothes/runners. I am getting married on the California Coast so I know I dont NEED lots of decor, but I am 80 days out and starting to panic. Id love to hear what others are doing...ThanksSmiley smile

I'm incorporating books, travel trinkets from our previous trips, our favorite quotes about love, marriage, family for each table. I'm also using our table numbers with a dual purpose. The table number is written on an envelope, along with instructions for the table to fill out and advice card inside the envelope for that year of our marriage. So, for example, table 9 guests will write down advice for us on our 9th anniversary.

All of the above (in your OP). And lanterns. And mason jars.

Aside from the standard floral centerpieces, we are making a few Lego business card holders for each table too. We are putting trivia questions in the business card holds. He loves Legos (as do I) and hosts a weekly trivia at a bar.

In have black IKEA tea light lanterns on the tables...Chinese Lanterns will be hung over the dance floor and twinkle lights will be wrapped around the 4 pillars that surround the dance floor.

That's basically it...the venue is lots of brick/wood and doesn't require much - which is why I loved it so much lol

A lot of our decor was lighting--lanterns, uplighting, backlit menus.

We've been scouring flea markets (we're looking more for the camping-type lanterns as that matches our venue) but it's been challenging. I'm in Canada and The Bay is currently selling wicked LED lanterns but they're $25 each. They're red or white and I might buy some anyway because I'm sure I could find a use for them in the future… power outage maybe you know etc… hahah They'd be perfect because we have a daytime reception so candles are a bit useless to us and this is closest we'd have to anything lit on the tables, beside some florals and books.. Hopefully!

Oh a lot haha: wood slices, moss, lanterns, rockes, branches, floral arrangement, table cards (the mountain scenes instead of table numbers) runners, and pinecones..

Signs on bar, guest book table, gift table

    Family photos on fireplace mantle

seating chart in a frame on an easel

branches and tiny tealight lanterns on head table..

That's all I can think of haha
