What did you do with your dress after the wedding?

Jenine, on July 23, 2022 at 8:47 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Hey ladies I recently got married this past June and I have no idea what to do with my dress and cathedral veil. Is it worth preserving? What did you do with yours?

Davids Bridal sells the dry-cleaning service with the preservation box. You can also dye it and modify it to get a second use.

Congrats on your wedding! There are a few things you can do with your dress you can have it preserved and store it, you can frame it, you can donate it or you can have pieces of it turned into a christening gown, a quilt, curtains, a Christmas tree skirt or Christmas stockings etc. Good luck!

I’m going to sell mine. I’m not incredibly sentimental about objects (especially clothing), and there will be plenty of pictures of me in the dress, so I figured I’d just as well recoup some of the money I dropped on it.

I built a separate closet as I live in a NYC apt. It was my fault for having 2 dresses with 2 overskirts. I drycleaned one, but the other was way too much. I fit neither 1 year later! Every now and then I put it on (unbuttoned) and walk my apt though. Good luck!

Mine are cleaned and hanging at my mom’s house since I don’t have the closet space. My veil will be worn by my friend in October for her wedding.

I saw something online where a bride had her dress shortened to knee length and then wore it on their anniversary! I really love that idea personally. Then the rest of the dress could be made into a christening gown for future kiddos, a tablecloth, or just about anything else that a seamstress could make.

I was originally planning to have my dress preserved, but I realized that my great grandma's dress that I was given is literally just sitting in a box and I'll probably never do anything with it. Might as well get more use out of my own dress and then have some kind of keepsake made from it.

I’m going to have it cleaned and preserved just incase my daughter or daughter in law wants it later down the road. If not then I’ll either pass it on to them to offer to grand daughters or just do date it for another bride to use.
