what did you do with your wedding dress after

emeryrianne, on September 26, 2017 at 6:04 PM Posted in Married Life 0 26

Hey all, I didn't know what topic to list this under but basically I have been trying to sell my dress since march and I really thought it would have sold by now. how long did it take you to sell yours? I have tried some wedding dress websites to resell but they're not free and I don't want to keep posting listings and have it not sell. I have also tried facebook marketplace, letgo, offerup, etc but have had no luck. Would you just donate your dress at this point? I am selling it at about 70% cheaper than what I paid so I guess I just want some insight thanks!

I put it on on our one year anniversary and drank wine in it.

Have you thought about sending it to be made in Angel outfits. It's a nonprofit that donates an outfit for a child that passed away.

I'm going to do some mild alterations on mine and keep it as an evening gown.

I plan on keeping mine in our family and if we have a daughter give it to her if she wants it.

Stuff like that doesn't resell unless its from a reputable retailer.

Did *you* look on craigslist for a dress?

Mine stayed in my closet dirty for about 3 years, then I cleaned it, and now it's hanging in the back of my closet again.

Ugh I don't know!! It's still hanging up in my closet. It's still dirty, i need to get it cleaned. But do I want to preserve it? My house is small I don't really want another "thing" to have to keep around. I may see if I can keep it at my parents house lol.

I'm getting mine preserved. Just keep it. Maybe the right buyer or person to donate to will come along

It seems like its hard to sell a wedding dress, new or used. I'm going to have mine preserved. I had fun trying on my mom's prom dresses and wedding dress. I'd love to have that moment with my future daughters (if we are blessed with a daughter).

I preserved mine and it is sitting in a box with my veil. If I have a daughter I would love a newborn picture of her laying in my dress after that it will probably go back into my closet.

I keep forgetting to take mine to the drycleaners. one of my BFFs dropped hers off to be cleaned and never picked it up. Smiley smile mine wasn't super high end (it wasn't actually a wedding dress, though it is white) so i don't think i can resell it. i might keep it till my first anniversary and then consign it or look into dyeing it.

I'm keeping mine for my sister, she absolutely loves it and has asked and I told her of course! She looks up to me as a mother as we don't really have a very great mom and I raised my siblings, so we have a very special bond and she follows right in my footsteps. My little baby actually turns 17 two days after the wedding Smiley sad

I'd like to think I'd sell it, but I don't think that would be the reality unless I fell on some really hard times. Altered wedding dresses are way harder to sell since you've customized it to fit YOU. If you're listing it somewhere for free, I would just keep it listed for as long as it takes to sell.

Mine's a higher end designer dress, so I might try to resell it. I'm having it slightly customized though, so I'm not sure if it'll sell (or at least sell for a good price).

I'll have to think about it after the wedding.

I'll probably end up donating my dress to a service like Brides Across America

A 30% discount may not be enough of a discount. Are you willing to try reducing the price?
