What did you forget??

UofMichiganGirl, on July 25, 2015 at 8:24 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 23

Being just a little over two months out and I'm freaking out that I'm forgetting something. I'm super organized but I feel that there's something I'm not thinking of. I've spent my morning making my "what do I still need to purchase" list and ahhhhhh.... SO TELL ME, WHAT DID YOU FORGET COME YOUR BIG DAY??

Or.... as you are planning, what have you realized that you've forgotten? I realize there are probably more "planners" on here rather than "married"... Thanks again for your help.

Boutonnieres. I had silk flower bouquets and our centrepieces were non-floral so it didn't even occur to me until the morning of. I wasn't bothered but my MIL happened to have some small, pretty silk flowers which she and my mum put on the boys and they looked just fine!

We are intentionally skipping the bouts. I am following every checklist imaginable and have a DOC to keep me on track. I'm not too worried about forgetting something and if I do, the DOC will fix it. Smiley smile

I had forgotten sand for the sand ceremony but got it the night before. I also forgot to put my blusher down when I walked down the aisle.....slightly bummed about that one

I bought clear plastic bins and packed everything in them. I had lists of what was in them and double and triple checked what was I them. Having everything in one place helped me not forget anything. The only thing that wasn't in them was what I ended up forgetting. I bought champagne and orange juice for mimosas while I was getting ready. I put it in the fridge to chill it and ended up forgetting it at home. Luckily my dh dropped it off at the hotel for us.

@Natalie that is exactly what I was thinking of doing! I have been trying hard to keep all my wedding stuff in just a couple places in the house but apparently I'm not trying hard enough but it keeps getting spread around. I am so afraid I'm going to forget I have something and it won't actually make it to the wedding. I need to just go out and buy some plastic totes and keep it all in there! Maybe that will be on this weekend's to do list.

And there ya go - another thing I don't have on in my budget (everyday budget that has my income vs my expenses + my wedding expenses broken down by paycheck)... I didn't add the license. Oh gee. I knew this post would be helpful! THANK YOU!!!

I started putting everything with a "manifest" into totes that I am stacking so they are ready to go so it will be almost impossible to forget anything. My main issue is that we are having to take a ridiculous amount of furniture down to the venue (we have to provide our own sweetheart table, a bar (yes a whole full size bar), two large flower pots for the aisle, stanchions, arches, signs, ugh. The venue did not have this basic stuff so I am really worried that I will forget something major that we NEED.

We have all the wedding stuff in one place in our house. Can't wait to get rid of it all. Guests come over they all go "holy crickey"... GreyCat- our venue is a private estate. So we are doing everything! A lot of work and I'm hoping it all turns out just perfectly. Eh Gads!!!

Once you have a license and officiant, you can stop worrying.

I had my grandmother's pearls *in my hand* as I was leaving my apartment, then put them down to help with my dress-- oops! A good friend drove back to get them, and I have half my posed pictures without them. No biggie-- I expect my grandma would have laughed if she were alive to hear about it. Smiley sexy

I forgot my veil in the room I got ready in and did not have it for most of our first look photos. My daughter went and grabbed it for the ceremony.

Oh and I forgot my speech in that same room and then failed to mention my wonderful husband in my speech to our guests because I had to wing it. I felt TERRIBLE after, but he was totally fine. He had no idea what I wrote anyway Smiley smile

I've had people forget everything from sashes to jewelry to speeches to lip gloss to, yes, one of my brides, god love her, forgot her dress.....

Checklists are key, and then so is a nice little case of amnesia; as Zoe said all you need is you two, your license, a black pen, and me ;-)

Ha Celiia! I love it! I had my officiant (best friend) and a BM over yesterday. We nailed out so much stuff that I'm feeling lots better about this. Also nailed out the rest of the budget to make sure I don't go in the RED and I think it's all planned out! Love you ladies! Your support and help is truly truly appreciated!! WW ROCKS!!!

Kinda related since you may forget the importance of this list: The family photos/important guests photos list for your photographer PLUS someone to help with the process.

This may seem like a no-brainer but make sure to review this list and be sure it covers all people you care about for wedding photos. Then, if possible, give list to maid of honor or a family member to help round people up & to ensure that the important photos are taken.

My wedding was wonderful but busy and my DH and I were off taking photos while an assistant photographer was taking other family photos. I made the mistake of assuming all family members were in the photos.

The next day I was so very sad when I discovered that an entire group of family members were left out. I regret not having wedding photos of my Uncle, my Aunt or my cousins who traveled quite a distance to attend my wedding.
