What did you splurge on?

Hunter, on March 2, 2019 at 1:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 28

I know everyone has that ONE thing that they splurged on for their wedding!

Mine is our wedding photographer - the photos are breathtaking. There was no way we couldn't book this photographer!

What was your splurge? Was it worth it? Do you regret it?

We’re splurging on the catering. My fiancé wants some really great food. And I want plenty of drinks.

I’ve splurged a lot, but I’d say the biggest, unnecessary splurge is either my string trio for the ceremony & cocktail hour or renting the bridal cottage for the entire day.

Photographer as well! We had a budget set but once we started looking and some potential photographers we found one and couldn't believe how gorgeous the photos were!

We’ve only just begun planning and I feel like every decision is a splurge. We set a budget before we had any idea on prices. We pushed up the budget after touring venues. Now it seems like every big item we check off is, “let’s spend $$, great!” Then we meet with them and are like, “oh, well that’s not MUCH more....now we will just spend....$$$!” 🤣 We made a savings account and deposited what we want to spend just for the wedding to not go way over budget but I’m using my personal account for bridesmaids gifts, groomsmen gifts and some extras that I know might add up. 😬 I’m horrible at budgeting for things that are far off. I do the same thing at Christmas! I’ll shop here and there all year round and then be dumbfounded that each of our boys got how much?! 😂🤣

A great photographer is so worth it! Well done.

For our DW, our splurge was on the venue (which also provided 5-star food & drinks).

For local reception, our splurge was entertainment (live band, Frank Sinatra impersonator).

    Still happy with those priorities!

Our splurge is the venue mostly because we have to use their catering and bar but their food is amazing so it’s all good!

My wedding is coming up on May 4th, the one thing we splurged one (and up to this date my FH still complains) is the photography and videography. I didn’t mind, I blew up the budget, I know. But that was the ONE thing I’d have forever from my wedding day.

Photographer and the violin duo for the ceremony - the latter of which wasn’t necessary, but something that was really special to me.

Definitely my dress. My parents gave me a pretty healthy budget for the dress but I never intended to spend anywhere near it. Then I found my dress. Ended up hitting the max budget almost exactly. I went over by $28 😂😂 I haven’t had alterations yet so it’s likely to go up more 😳

My venue. But I don’t feel too bad about it because it’s right on the ocean, includes catering (and tables, linens etc.) and we are having the ceremony there as well. Also it includes a bridal suite and a grooms room.

It'll probably be the venue. I want it to be an all inclusive one so that i'm not running around lining up tons of different vendors

That EXACTLY my point. We went a bit over budget but I lucked out and found a great photographer who was running a special where I got her top tier package (which was 3x our original budget) for right at $300 over budget. FH and my dad think it’s crazy but the value we are getting is amazing and I love her pictures. Like you said, it’s the only thing we will have forever!

Our floral and venue(includes food and drinks) bill is currently double what we originally budgeted. Don’t feel bad about it because it’s wxactly what we wanted and how we’ve envisioned it in our heads
